24.01.2022 This building has decorated Sydneys skyline for over 200 years and is passed by every single person who crosses the Harbour Bridge every day...yet no-one seems to know it exists. During its long-standing career, it has seen time as a barracks, a military hospital, the first model high school in Sydney and the headquarters of the National Trust....in consequence I try to make an effort (pull up my pants and say Gday) every time I pass it. You should too. Come check out why these colonial relics are so important to our contemporary city on a unique private tour of Sydneys history: https://journeywalks.com/private-tours/

09.01.2022 The true spirit of Sydney...would have to be rum. 65 thousand litres were shipped over on the First Fleet alone and that was just beginning. By the late 19th century whisky and brandy imports filled Sydneys long list of Hotels and Liquor Shops, while countless unlicensed Grog Shops still sold cheap fiery spirits to sailrso and stragglers at all hours of the day particularly in The Rocks. Long before we were a classy nation sipping expensive Rose and Vodka lime and sod...as, we were renowned for the rascally conduct of our drunken behaviour and the sculling of spirits. This engraving of a youth passed out on a barrel outside a Sydney spirit store was a common sight! Join us in The Rocks to learn and laugh about how Sydneys rum infused history kicked off and continued to influence society, politics, architecture, currency and even medicine throughout the early years of the colony. https://journeywalks.com/tours/the-rocks-walking-tour/ See more
