24.01.2022 Sydney local, Dot, remembers celebrating her 21st birthday with her husband, which coincided with the opening ceremony of the Opera House in 1973. 47 years later, they’re still coming back to the House together. "The whole of the Harbour was packed. You could have walked across the harbour on the boats. And then the Queen came out and waved - it was the most amazing thing." 20.01.2022 Sydney Theatre Company's Rules for Living is now playing in the Drama Theatre. Susanna Dowling's STC directorial debut features a brilliant ensemble cast including Keegan Joyce (ABC TV's Please Like Me and Rake) and Amber McMahon (Accidental Death of an Anarchist). Timed for the silly season, this is the most deliciously dysfunctional Christmas lunch you’ll ever attend.... https://soh.online/faed6

18.01.2022 If you're an Australian fan of Netflix's The Crown, you may have found yourself glued to Season 4, which depicted a baby-faced Charles and Diana touring Down Under for the first time in 1983. Given the distinct lack of Utzon-designed Opera Houses to use as sets in Spain, where the series was filmed, we think they didn’t do a bad job of recreating Sydney's famous sails. This image shows the couple's return to the Sydney Opera House for a second visit in 1988. Have you ever s...een a royal at the Sydney Opera House? #MySydneyOperaHouse

17.01.2022 We're reopening our theatres and are inviting you to come back and make some memories. We've made some changes to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Here's what you need to know when planning your next visit.

17.01.2022 5000 people wear their birthday suits on the Opera House steps in the name of art In 2010, photographer Spencer Tunick had 5000 people lay starkers on the Forecourt, for art installation 'The Base'. Not even the cool harbour breeze and grey skies could deter the crowds from lying nude on the cold, cold granite for 90 minutes, while Tunick captured the perfect shot. You might not know that another nude photoshoot took place on the same day inside the Concert Hall. The tight ...time frame meant that hundreds of bare bodies had to be rushed out of the hall so the Sydney Symphony Orchestra could begin rehearsals! This year, the Australian summer arrived in style with a show-stopping penumbral lunar eclipse This type of eclipse happens when our closest celestial neighbour moves into Earth's outer shadow, causing the moon's surface to darken.
