09.01.2022 Male Champions of Change has released a new report to guide more effective organisational approaches to preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. The approach argues that the prevention of sexual harassment should be a key accountability for Boards, CEOs and Executive teams akin to their occupational health and safety responsibilities. It also recommends people who experience sexual harassment be able to tell their story, in their own words, if and when they choose to. We must continue to shift power structures for good. 07.01.2022 Ahead of awarding Midnight Oil the Gold Medal for Human Rights on November 26, we’re taking a look back at some of the key moments in their history that illustrate their unwavering commitment to human rights. Today we’re heading back to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, when the world witnessed Midnight Oil shaking up the closing ceremony in black suits bearing a word the Australian prime minister in attendance refused to say. Sorry. The band's dramatic gesture of redress to our Fir...st Nations people didn't lead directly to the official apology by John Howard's successor, Kevin Rudd, at the opening of Parliament eight years later. But it helped get us there. "I think we were really just tapping into a pretty wide sentiment amongst many Australians," Garrett reflected, "that there was no clear or apparent reason as to why something as important but also as straightforward as that shouldn't have happened." Are you ready to hear more from Midnight Oil? Get your tickets to the live award ceremony now where they will receive the Gold Medal for Human Rights: http://tix.yt/midnight-oil-gold-medal

We are not one nation but First Nations, made up of hundreds of language groups, each with rich and diverse cultural practices, customs, politics and beliefs. Many people in this country aren’t aware of the history behind this week and how it came to be." Lidia Thorpe in The New Daily

06.01.2022 "The Trump administration has a dirty little secret: It’s not just planning to increase taxes on most Americans. The increase has already been signed, sealed and delivered, buried in the pages of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act." A powerful piece from 2018 Sydney Peace Prize winner Professor Joseph Stiglitz about how these tax increases, which will unfairly affect those already suffering in the pandemic, must be stopped.
