12.01.2022 General Update on COVID regarding the four square metre rule. As you are aware SST has instituted the four square metre rule in our classrooms which has seen our course sizes halve based on what room we are using. Well now for the good news: From the nsw.gov.au website discussing the four square metre rule, we now as an educational institution fall under Gatherings excluded from the 4 square metre rule The 4 square metre rule does not apply to normal operations for the fo...llowing activities and premises which are considered essential gatherings. 11. Schools, universities, other educational institutions or childcare facilities, excluding events that involve members of the community in addition to staff and students. I have spoken with Services NSW to clarify this ruling and they confirmed that we do not have to comply with the 4 s/m rule, and provided me with Case Number 14146654 dated 19/11/20 for reference of this advice. But all our staff will continue to implement stringent COVID controls for all students in our facility. The wearing of facemasks during all training by students remains in place, and is now imperative as a key control measure for the future. Courses will now reopen with space available effective immediately. So check our website for spaces available.

05.01.2022 2020 Standards Revision The Australian and New Zealand Standard for Fall-Arrest Devices AS/NZS 1891.3 has been released as a 2020 revision. This revision expands on the ANZ acceptance of international standard certified devices to include both EN (Europe) and ANSI (American) certified devices. The revision expands the terminology of devices to include a ‘Type 4’ device which has an auto-decent or self-rescue feature. So this device is a Type 2 Inertia Reel, that once the f...all is arrested, then turns into an auto descender for self rescue. Perfect for workers on tanker trucks who slip off the side, and are then auto lowered to the ground as one example. Additionally, the standard now requires textile line components of devices to meet the light degradation performance requirements of AS/NZS 1891.1. See more
