22.01.2022 An exciting trip to Chilligoe by train to Almaden and Dimbula. Rocky Falls are fabulous better than the Barron that has been damned. Bus to Chilligoe to Echo Lodge. 14 of us for art trek Scenery at Chiligoe was very dramatic. I did three small plein air paintings and took lots of pics.

12.01.2022 Post-tropical Monsoon everyone is trying to dry out their sodden homes and furniture. What a disaster once in 100 years they say. Such a torrential downpour for so long has been literally unseen for decades in Townsville. We were very blessed where we live with plenty of yard water that rushed away quickly across the road and onto the Townsville Common. My gallery in Flinders St wasn't so lucky as most of the buildings are very old and deteriorating. Fortunately, none of... the artwork was water damaged and a dehumidifier helped dry out the atmosphere and carpets etc. We are now open for business and hope to see all our art lovers out and about soon. New work by Emily Hill and Carolyn Dodds are in and remember Valentine's Day in on Wednesday this week for those searching for that special gift other than red roses and chocolates. Look forward to seeing you soon.

06.01.2022 I love the drama in the natural environment especially the tropics and the red interior of Australia. I havent always lived in the tropics but I was drawn to ...the colourful and lush scenery that I try to express my view on, through my art. Since October last year, Sylvia Ditchburn Fine Art Gallery has been located in the heart of Flinders Street and was originally situated in Ogden street for 10 marvellous years. Sylvias gallery features prints and self made (original) paintings by local artists and Sylvia, that deeply represent the raw colour and beauty within tropical North Queensland. Sylvia has always had a passion for art since she was young but never saw herself owning her own business. Sylvia says, I always thought I would sell my art via a different gallery or work within a government gallery. Sylvias past careers consisted of being a secretary for lawyers and architects,however she always knew her calling was to create fine art paintings and capture the natural wonders our environment offers. The multi-award winning artist specialises in tropical and outback Australian landscapes and is a en plein air artist, meaning Sylvia paints in the field outdoors. Sylvia says, You come to realise what you can do and you make the art your own. If it isnt your own then it doesnt really reflect your personality. Taking step inside Sylvia Ditchburn Fine Art Gallery you will see the vibrant colours that define each earthy art piece and Sylvia herself.
