19.01.2022 Yes, as I have been reminded, this little exercise with the mid range whistles has dragged on a bit! At last the workbenches are clear of other projects and some progress will be made.

13.01.2022 Some D flutes I've been working on for upcoming festivals. My own musical journey started in primary school in the fife and drum band. We learnt on the good old Bb fifes that are so popular with military bands and well suited to little hands. I can remember though trying to find a flute in D when i got interested in folk music and had no success at all. In one respect that was good, it directed me into the whistle and also started me making instruments, but I always regre...tted not bring able to find a reasonably well made and priced flute to play. So these flutes are directed towards beginners. The construction is simple, straight bore and keyless from standard ally telescopic tubing. I take more care with the mouthpiece and embouchure, the head is 'parabolic' and has a lip plate, giving a good chimney depth. The finger hole placement is more directed towards easy stretchability for beginner hands. I also try to keep prices down, AU$80 is pretty reasonable I think. See more

06.01.2022 Did you know there is a 'House Band' at the tattoo? There they are on the right, under the canopy. Whistles supplied by Syn Whistles! I made up a fair selection of keys for them, all with Cnat and Fnat thumb holes.
