25.01.2022 Chinese New Year was celebrated last week at Syndal Preschool by the 4 Year Olds. The Dolphin group were joined by a mum who taught us how to make Glutinous Rice Balls and helped us create celebratory lanterns. The Echidna group have been building on the their learning about the Lunar New Year, practising their cutting, drawing and pasting skills. They also had a mum come in to talk about the celebration. We love to celebrate special occasions at Syndal Preschool, and we all can learn and share together!

24.01.2022 A big thanks to the Syndal Preschool community for inviting me along to enjoy their 60th birthday celebrations today. Community run kindergartens are a fantasti...c example of how local volunteers pitch in year after year for our benefit. Congratulations to Sally Whitrod and her staff, the parent run committees both present and past and of course the parents and family members of the community. Well done and heres to the next 60 years of Syndal Preschool.

22.01.2022 Last week, the 4 Year Old groups enjoyed an interactive session about Chinese Culture. Sindy, a Chinese entertainer came to share her Chinese culture through a variety of songs, stories and dance. These experiences were in both Mandarin and English.

22.01.2022 As part of the Diwali Festival, children at Syndal Preschool worked together to paint or collage a giant colourful rangoli. In the block building corner they were inspired by photos of the Taj Mahal and its gemstone walls and ceilings. They cut out and decorated Indian Elephants to make a parade.

20.01.2022 Yesterday the 3 YO's hosted a Teddy Bear's Picnic as a follow up from our Teddy Bear's Picnic Incursion last Friday. Everyone was invited to bring along a special teddy or soft toy from home. The toys watched as we built with the duplo, iced and decorated Teddy Bear biscuits and searched for treasure in the coloured rice.... Then it was time to sing "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around...." before heading outside to find that the teddies had set up a picnic on our stage area! We 'shared' our snack with our toys before enjoying eating our own iced and decorated biscuits. What a fun day!

20.01.2022 Earlier this term, we had Joe from Rhythm Fun come to visit the Lizard group. He brought his suitcase full of instruments and his drum kit! We learnt new words and their meaning, "pitch, tempo, and rhythm". We all had a chance to explore the instruments which included: Chinese drums, tambourines, rhythm sticks, maracas, triangles and drums. Finally, we, took turns to either use the feather brushes or drumsticks on the drums.

20.01.2022 Last week, Adam and Phillip from Carp Productions came with their teddy friends to put on a show for our 3 YOs. We sang, danced, counted and helped out with magic tricks. All of us got to have a turn up on the stage (if we wanted) and acted out parts in a story. There was a birthday party picnic and Goldilocks turned up!

20.01.2022 Last Friday was the Syndal Preschool Take Away Night. This was a chance for families to get together in our wonderful grounds, meet each other and share a meal together. A fun time was had by all!

18.01.2022 Pyjama Day was a great, fun-filled day! Nearly everyone was in attendance at the 3 year old session sporting their best pjs! We painted a starry night to remind us of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", decorated Banana in Pyjama pictures and rocked along with one of our favourite books and dance songs, "Kangaroo Rock". Outside, we got busy in the sandpit and digging patch and managed to keep our pjs mostly clean and mud free!

17.01.2022 3 YO Preschool in full action..... Making a paper collage insect... hand and finger painting.... train tracks and trains... and pumping water from the water tank!

16.01.2022 Syndal Preschool has been awarded a Landcare grant. We can't wait to further enhance our beautiful outdoor play area with a new garden bed for the children to enjoy. Watering plants, gardening and learning about our natural environment are a critical part of the experience at Syndal Preschool and this grant will enable us to further develop our garden. Thank you Landcare and Momentum Energy and we look forward to selecting some new plants for our grounds soon.

13.01.2022 Science is an important part of the learning experience at Syndal Preschool all year round, however this week to celebrate Science Week, it was made extra special when the children undertook an experiment to determine whether items such as fruit, keys and tennis balls would sink or float in water. Donning lab coats, the children made predictions about which items would sink or float and then tested their hypothesis, before recording and reporting on their findings.

13.01.2022 The Easter celebrations have been in full swing at the preschool this past week. Balloon print chicks, Easter baskets, salad spinner eggs, bunny ears, hot cross buns and an Easter egg hunt! HAPPY EASTER HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! Term 2 commences Monday 16.04.18.

12.01.2022 We hope everyone had wonderful holidays and we look forward to welcoming our three and four year old groups back to kinder this week for what will be an exciting Term 4. Term 4 includes excursions for our four year old groups as well as a range of interesting incursions for both three and four year old groups. We will also host our annual Family Fun Day in December, where we celebrate the year with our educators, students and families, welcome families joining us in 2018 and... bid farewell to students moving onto prep. 11.01.2022 The sandpit is always a popular place to be when outside. There is enough room for the whole group to be in there: cooking; mixing; baking, measuring; pouring; digging; scooping, stirring; experimenting. So much learning and fun!

10.01.2022 In week 3 of this term, Wildlife Xposure came to visit both of our 4 YO groups. Brandon came to show us all some Australian animals. He explained how their special, individual characteristics help them to survive in the wild. We met a Blue Tongued Lizard, a Sugar Glider, a Green Tree Frog, a monitor Lizard, an Eastern Long Neck Turtle, a Salt Water Crocodile, Eclectus Parrots, a Rainbow Lorikeet and an Olive Python. We have followed their visits up by holding discussions about Australian animals, completing reflections on our incursion by cutting, pasting photos and saying what we liked. We have also been reading stories about Australian animals and representative drawing of Australian animals.

07.01.2022 Just over a week to go until Syndal Preschool opens its doors to families of 2018. Time to get snack and lunch boxes sorted, drink bottles, the all important HAT and kinder bag. Starting to get exciting! Tuesday 30 January is Enrolment Day (check your enrolment pack for your time slot) with sessions commencing Wednesday 31 January for the Dolphin and Lizard Groups and Friday 2 February for the Echidna Group.

04.01.2022 Today our four-year-old groups visited the Kew Traffic School. The children first participated in a road safety lesson to learn about the importance of seat belts, how to read traffic signals and the safe way to cross the road. After the lesson, with their helmets on, the children put theory into practice and rode their bikes around the school, carefully watching out for each other and obeying traffic lights and road signs. 02.01.2022 The 4 YO groups visited Myuna Farm recently. There was great excitement at taking the bus there. We milked a goat, met Joey the Sulfur Crested cockatoo, fed emus, alpacas and camels, travelled to the wetlands on a train and saw ducks and flying foxes! All up, a great day at the farm

02.01.2022 The 4 year old group enjoyed pizza making last week. From making their own dough, cutting up their ingredients and then constructing their individual pizzas to eating at snack time!

02.01.2022 Friday 22 Dec is the final day that the preschool will be open for the year. Syndal Preschool will be closed until Monday 29 January 2018. We wish all our families and followers a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year period and look forward to updating you all in the New Year.

02.01.2022 We welcomed Jan and Azita from Citrus Dance to come and do some movement, dancing and fun with the 3 YOs. We did a warm up for our bodies and brains and then did some balancing and ladder work. We did a dance in the form of telling a story about going to the beach and performed this to music. Finally, we had a fun game of musical statues dressed up in capes, hats or butterfly wings.
