25.01.2022 This week in Echuca we replaced a 16-year-old electric hot water service with a whisper quiet, energy efficient Reclaim Energy CO2 heat pump water heater. Our customer wanted to lower their energy costs and is considering installing solar panels in the future. Thanks for the great install Ralph from Murray River Plumbing Service - looks fantastic!

24.01.2022 t2zero is raising energy literacy about CO2 Heat Pump water heaters and how they can be used in Australia's transition to zero net energy and zero net emissions ... Can your hot water system act as a thermal battery? Many rooftop solar PV installations are now routinely exceeding 5kWp, with many 10+kWp systems being installed.... These systems generate on average 18-36kWh/day (3.6x multiplier). A Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump (REHP) water heater uses around 3wWh/day (ie 1kW power for around 3 hours per day). This represents only 16% of the output from a 5kW system and 8% from a 10kW system. Electricity generated from rooftop solar PV is the cheapest form of electricity. Running the REHP during peak solar PV production will store 3kWh of energy as hot water a thermal battery

22.01.2022 Reduce your hot water bill to only $111 a year when you convert your existing water heater to an energy efficient CO2 heat pump water heater powered by solar PV. The magic of heat pump technology is that their output thermal energy is a significant multiple of the input electrical energy. In fact, around 80% of this thermal energy is supplied by the ambient air temperature absolutely FREE! Heat pumps only use a fraction of the energy consumed by a conventional electric sto...rage water heater. Running an energy efficient, CO2 Heat Pump during peak solar PV production uses around 3kWh of electrical energy. This 3kWh could be sold into the grid assuming a prevailing Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) of 10.2/kWh, "costing" 30.6/day or $111 per year in forgone revenue. Find out more...www.t2zero.com.au

21.01.2022 Well done Tim! The days of abundantly available, cheap gas from Bass Strait are seriously numbered. AEMO predicts that 50% of the remaining reserves will be produced in the next 5 years. As production capacity diminishes, NSW & SA will be first to feel the effects as supplies are curtailed to ensure Victorians remain priority customers. NSW is already proposing LNG receiving terminals to keep feeding their gas habit. Sensible people are planning the conversion of their homes to be all electric, fuelled by renewable energy. Heat pumps are an amazing, energy efficient technology that is entirely compatible with a renewable energy electricity grid.

13.01.2022 Are you worried about climate change and wondering how to make an immediate difference? There is one way to achieve a zero net emissions outcome for water heating = use a CO2 heat pump with your rooftop solar PV... A Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat pump (REHP) has an external controller that allows your hot water system to be set to heat your hot water between the hours of 10am-4pm. ... A REHP uses ~1kW of power for about 3 hours per day, ie 3kWh/day. Running the REHP from your rooftop solar PV generated electricity costs 36/day or $131 per year to run using the Solar Feed-In-Tariff of 12/kWh. Any hot water system (including electric storage, electric boosted solar and electric boosted heat pumps) that uses an electric element (sometimes marketed as an emergency or backup element) is grossly inefficient and draws too much electricity (2.4 - 4.8kW) to be run effectively from a renewable energy grid. Any gas hot water system (eg instantaneous, gas storage or gas boosted solar) is using a non-renewable fuel and generates emissions. The graph below captures this information. Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump Win Win Win Lower your energy reduce your energy bills make an impact on local emissions. 12.01.2022 The Zero Net Carbon Homes pilot program will be made available to industry in early 2020. Zero net carbon homes require heating, cooling and water-heating appliances to be highly energy efficient. t2zero acknowledges this initiative as a significant step towards creating a more sustainable built form and raising energy literacy in the community.

12.01.2022 There are National and State rebates for people wishing to upgrade their hot water system to more energy efficient systems. The Victorian Solar Hot Water Rebate of $1000 is available for installing a Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump hot water system. Check out the link below to see if you qualify.

06.01.2022 A picture says a thousand words t2zero was inspired by Hepburn Shire Z-NET Community Transition Plan (CTP), launched in April 2019. The CTP provides a roadmap to achieve zero net energy by 2025 and zero net emissions by 2029. A snapshot of the Sankey interactive visual made it abundantly clear to us where we as a community needed to focus our attention on In the household, hot water, appliances and space conditioning (heating and cooling) are key focus areas.... t2zero chose to focus on water heating. Heat pumps, in particular high efficiency CO2 heat pumps that are suited to colder climates and use an environmentally benign refrigerant, use significantly less energy, reduce energy costs and lower local emissions. As residents, we can address our Stationary Energy usage to become more energy efficient and produce fewer emissions. The good news is this is also reflected in lower household energy costs. We applaud Hepburn Shire Council's environmental leadership. More information on the Hepburn Z-Net initiative can be found at https://z-net.org.au/hepburn/

03.01.2022 Are you planning for your retirement? Transitioning to an all-electric home is a perfect pre-retirement plan to minimise ongoing household energy costs. With a large (7.75kW) rooftop solar PV array our Melbourne customer chose to replace their gas storage hot water system with an energy efficient Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump water heater.... The Reclaim Energy heat pump is set to run during peak solar PV generation (10am 4pm). The cost of running the system is the foregone Feed-in-Tariff revenue of 36 per day / $131 approx per year (3kWh @ 12/kWh) that would have been generated if this excess energy was exported to the grid. Large solar PV arrays like this example, typically have a 5kW export limit imposed, preventing more than 5kW of electricity being exported to the grid at any particular time. By operating a heat pump during peak solar generation and using the excess electricity that might otherwise be curtailed by the export limit, the energy can be considered free as it could not actually be sold to the grid. By running the Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump water heater totally on solar, our customer is achieving zero emissions for hot water heating well done! Do you know how much energy you are using to heat your hot water? A Reclaim Energy CO2 heat pump water heater consumes an average 3kWh/day to heat 315L of water. As it draws only 1kW of electricity, it can be run from your solar PV with zero emissions and minimal running costs, effectively acting as a thermal battery to store the excess solar power during peak generation (10am 4pm). Attractive National (STC) and Victorian (VEEC, Solar Vic Solar Hot Water) rebates are available to reduce the upfront cost of replacing your current system and start saving energy, money and emissions. t2zero’s current price, after rebates, for a standard replacement of a gas system in Melbourne is $3,350 if you are claiming the Solar Vic Hot Water Rebate and $4,350 if you are not claiming the Solar Vic Hot Water Rebate. It's even less to replace an electric storage system. Call 0426 220 220 for a free quote on your installation. Find out more at www.t2zero.com.au
