23.01.2022 There is a large visible glow coming from the ranges due to a pile burn. Authorities have been notified.

23.01.2022 Temperatures are continuing to rise across NSW - and we're entering the hottest and most dangerous part of the day. There's currently 45 bush and grass fires ac...ross the state. All are at Advice level. Temperatures are nudging 40 degrees in many areas and strong north-westerly winds are being experienced. These are dangerous fire conditions and will remain until a southerly change sets in later today. The change has reached the south-east of the state and is expected in Sydney at around 5pm.

23.01.2022 VICSES Volunteer targeted by thieves while on duty! While VICSES Wodonga Unit volunteers responded to a road crash rescue in West Wodonga. A heartless thief bro...ke into a volunteers vehicle at the Units headquarters and stole personal belongings, including a laptop. Wodonga Unit volunteers responded to assist at a truck accident at around 9pm on Tuesday night. While the volunteers were at the scene, an unknown person has entered the carpark at the Units Headquarters on Victoria Cross Parade on a pushbike. The person was captured on CCTV footage moving through the car park attempting to access several vehicles before leaving, only to return a short time later. This time they gained access to one of the vehicles and stole a bag containing essential equipment, including a Dell laptop that the volunteer requires for their employment. Acting Wodonga Unit Controller Lisa Wise said We are both shocked and saddened that volunteers providing life-saving emergency response to their community have been targeted. The VICSES volunteer whose property was stolen has responded to hundreds of rescues and played a key role in the recent fires, taking leave to spend a number of weeks in various support roles and this is the thanks they get. The Unit has just finished replacing $20,000 of vital rescue equipment that was stolen from the same location, only 14 months ago. Wodonga Unit and the VICSES volunteer affected are working with the Wodonga Police in the hopes of identifying the individual. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wodonga Police on 02 6049 2600.

23.01.2022 With winter frosts causing grassland fuels to cure, we are beginning to see grass fires take hold and threaten homes and other assets. This fire near Glen Innes... burnt around 50ha on Sunday with firefighters undertaking property protection at a number of assets. It is important to have a cleared and maintained line of at least 20 metres around your assets. If you are undertaking pile burning or having a fire pit, make sure you remain with the fire until it is out, and you have enough water to extinguish it, should it escape.

23.01.2022 A very productive morning at the station today. Checked and fuelled the trucks. Cleaned out drains, cleaned up and trimmed the garden and a clean inside the shed as well. Thanks Dave, Jason, JP & Dave. A job well done.

23.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our brigade Dads. Hope you all have a great day.

19.01.2022 Police are appealing for information following a suspicious fire at a church in the states south. Shortly after 3pm on Monday 17 August 2020, passing motorists... on the Bowna Road, Mullengandra, noticed smoke coming from a nearby church. NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the blaze, which took hold of the front of the building and appeared to be lit through a glass window. Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire. As inquiries continue, detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a black Jeep Grand Cherokee in the area around the time of the fire, particularly in the Clancy Road area, as the driver of the vehicle may be able to assist with inquiries. Investigations are continuing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. 18.01.2022 A busy couple of days for the Table Top crew. Yesterday afternoon we were called to a large out of control grass fire between Jerilderie and Oaklands. Today, an early morning wake up call this morning to a fire at Table Top sparked by a wheel dislodging from a truck, and then this afternoon back out west to Finley and another fast moving grass fire. A great effort from all concerned. Hopefully with the forecast of cooler weather, conditions will calm down a little. Stay safe everyone

18.01.2022 Yesterday Berrigan responded to a grass fire along the Riverina Highway at Myrtle Park Finley with 2 trucks and another on standby at the station in case any ot...her fires started in the area. A Watch and Act alert was issued and the Highway closed. Crews were called in from other brigades and agencies to assist in getting the fire under control. The LAT plane and 2 smaller fixed wing aircraft were also called in to assist. 2 houses and multiple sheds were saved. The crews managed to keep the fire to under 500 ha on a day of severe fire danger. Thanks to all that assisted. It was a huge job and a massive effort from everyone involved. 15.01.2022 You dont have to live right near the bush to be at risk. Even if your home is a few streets back, you may be at risk. Can you guess the main reason homes are lost during a bush fire? Find out more about preparing for the fire season at myfireplan.com.au #getreadyweekend #nswrfs

15.01.2022 Congratulations to our new Commissioner Rob Rogers

14.01.2022 It may be winter but theres still an increased risk of fires in some parts of NSW. The Australian Seasonal Bush Fire Outlook has been released today by the Bus...hfire and Natural Hazards CRC. It shows an above normal risk of fires in a small patch of southern NSW for the next few months. Of course, this may change depending on rainfall and theres a long way to go before the peak of the coming fire season. Any time is a good time to update and discuss your bush fire survival plan and know what you and your family will do if fire threatens. More information is available here: https://www.bnhcrc.com.au/hazardnotes/75

13.01.2022 Prepare your property for the coming fire season. Our Table Top area has over 520 landholders and the fire brigade has 3 vehicles so it is so important to have a fire plan.

13.01.2022 Firefighters have been busy from border to border over the last few days, with a number of fires starting in these heatwave conditions. There's been more than ...100 fires in the past 48 hours, including one on the Queensland border where firefighters were flown in, and crop and grass fires near Berrigan in southern NSW. The hot weather continues today - so stay cool, stay safe and stay up to date. Pics: Morgan Fraser and Greyd'n Davis

06.01.2022 ARE YOU OK?? 2020 has been a year of challenges for each and all of us. Our brigade started the year with involvement in the horrendous and heartbreaking Green Valley fire. We had hardly caught our breath and Covid-19 became a reality, which meant that we have not been able to be as social in the community as we would like, no brigade BBQ's or get togethers and having to cancel our usual fundraising events. In order to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions, we have all had to spend... more time at home and less face to face time with others. So today, we need to make a special effort. We need to check in with family, friends and our brigade family and make sure that they are doing OK. If you know someone who might be struggling or you yourself are struggling, please make contact. There is always someone who will listen and catch up for a coffee and chat. So, start the conversation today with RUOK, and go from there. Everyone, take care of yourselves, and stay safe. See more
