25.01.2022 "You got a way of keeping me coming back to back..." - the song lyrics say it all. No doubt our students in Inala are excited to be back after a well-deserved break. We hope everyone is feeling just as refreshed, a big welcome to Term 4 :)

24.01.2022 Shifting to online learning did not phase SEE student Alex, who is Deaf. With the help of his dedicated interpreter Nathan and accessible online tools used by TAFE Queensland, Alex is able to keep up with his learning and couldn't speak highly enough of the experience. "The video content are quite visual and text-based so I am able to easily understand the information." Alex said. "I really feel like my English and Maths skills are improving and people are starting to notice that too." For more info on the SEE program and how to join, please see our website: https://bit.ly/3fAsBqx

Some even gained employment following their two week work experience placement, which is just incredible!

20.01.2022 Several classes at Loganlea have spread Christmas cheer by making and writing festive cards and letters to nursing home residents. The elderly residents were delighted and eager to write back to their new friends. This heartwarming activity also provided a creative learning experience for our students to practice their writing skills and connect with the wider community.

18.01.2022 Four years after completing the AMEP, Valeria has reached her goal of becoming a registered midwife! After attending three job interviews, Valeria received two offers, but decided to spend time looking after her newborn daughter instead. Reflecting back on her time in the AMEP, Valeria said Midwifery was my biggest dream and my teacher Vicky at Inala was so important. I can’t imagine being where I am without her she added. Congratulations on achieving your goal Valeria, we can’t wait to see what you aim for next!

17.01.2022 Rahma completed the AMEP and got a job! "I would like to thank the AMEP at TAFE Queensland for the support and for guiding me for my future. Now I have finished my hours in AMEP, and my English has improved and I learnt a lot about living and working in Australia. This course will help you like it helped me, give it all you can and you will also succeed." For the full story as written by Rahma herself, please see images in post.

14.01.2022 In celebration of International Volunteers’ Day last week, some of our volunteers based in Mackay switched things up, taking part in a language extravaganza with students. This involved the students writing a quote in their own language, and then translating and teaching this to the volunteers in a role reversal. This event was highly enjoyed by all involved, with the volunteer tutors extremely proud of their students and thrilled to be able to learn a little bit of each of the 9 languages spoken in class. A big thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, shared moments like this are only possible through your dedicated time and commitment to our students!

07.01.2022 Leonie Jackal is one of our amazing volunteers who transitioned from tutoring in the home to using digital platforms. After attending an online professional development session based on Adobe Spark, she is now building Spark pages for use in her one on one tuition sessions. She is also switching over to using Zoom to conduct these sessions as she thinks that will be a better platform for sharing her Spark creations. Thank you so much for your hard work and taking a chance on going digital, we know your students will really appreciate it!
