10.01.2022 We can confirm that Take A Hike Toowoomba will be indeed going ahead on Sunday 22 March as we're expecting around 200 people in attendance. As the latest advice issued by the Australian Government states that, from today (Monday), non-essential public gatherings of more than 500 people are not to go ahead in the interest of limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Take A Hike Toowoomba is okay to go ahead. Given that Take A Hike is also an outdoors event, we'll be surrounded by fresh air and you will not be limited in the space you can move around in. We are all systems go in the lead-up to the grand event! We look forward to seeing you there on Sunday if your personal circumstances permit and you still feel comfortable to do so.

08.01.2022 Can't wait to support children with autism? Head to https://bit.ly/3maZdeG right now!

06.01.2022 What a start to the year we’ve all had. We’re facing such uncertain times, and we know your inbox and social media feeds are all receiving floods of messages about Covid-19. We’ve got some important details to share with you about how Covid-19 will affect our signature event, Take A Hike Toowoomba. The event is proceeding. We have made this decision with a cautious yet clear mind, and in keeping with the available information and advice from the Australian Government. We have... modified the event, and have put a number of practices in place to safeguard the health and safety of all of our Hikers, and the wider community. What you need to know: The event has scaled down in size: We’ll welcome about 50% of participants on the day, so there will be less than 80 people there. How is this made possible? Our wonderful supporters at Toowoomba Grammar will tackle their hiking challenge on the school grounds, and several other participants have contacted us to let us know they plan to hike with their families on another day. This event is outdoors, in a large open space with beautiful fresh air. We are staggering the start times, and will be encouraging you to spread out, remembering the 1.5 metre distancing rule. We made the decision to cancel the jumping castle and the face painter for the children. We will have hand sanitiser available at the registration table, and there is running water and soap available in the bathrooms in the park. Event bibs will be handed out by Christine Birnie, our Event Executive. She’ll be employing her best hygiene practices, and will also be wearing gloves. We’ll lay out the pins for your bibs, and you won’t need to fish around in a bowl to pick one up. We’ll also have disinfectant for these kinds of things in use on the day. Our BBQ will not take place: this is to limit lines and exposure and in particular, to ensure the health and safety of the Lions Club volunteers as well. Other things to remember: We’re asking each of you to remember to greet friends with a friendly smile rather than a hug, kiss or handshake. If you have traveled overseas recently or feel unwell for any reason, please stay home and consider hiking your chosen course with a friend or family member on another day And finally: We know it’ll look a bit different, and we understand some will prefer not to join us on the day. If your personal circumstances do permit it, we will be glad to see you there to TAKE A HIKE! Thank you for your support during these changing times. We’re grateful to be part of the community in Toowoomba.

06.01.2022 Hey Toowoomba, we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday! The weather forecast is looking great, and remember to keep FUNdraising! All money that is raised at Take A Hike will directly benefit the Toowoomba AEIOU Centre - providing early intervention therapy and education support for children with autism.

06.01.2022 A Huge THANK YOU to the young men from Toowoomba Grammar School who are taking part in Take A Hike in 2020! Together they have already raised well over $2000! What an amazing effort!

05.01.2022 If you are looking for a way to support AEIOU, please consider donating to our 2020 Tax Appeal. Together we DO make a difference!

05.01.2022 Hey there Take A Hikers it is with sad faces that we are advising that the Brisbane event for 2020 will unfortunately be postponed until 2021. Due to ongoing Covid19 regulations and restrictions as well as planned boardwalk development in the Southbank area, AEIOU Foundation have made the decision to run the event in May 2021. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2021 for what we hope to be our best event ever!
