19.01.2022 Following the killing of Hannah Clark and her three children, and the murder of Preethi Reddy, the topic of coercive control is receiving much-needed attention. Defined as a series of non-physical behaviours including threats, humiliation, monitoring and isolation from friends and family, coercive control has the potential to turn deadly, yet it is not illegal in Australia. We believe criminalising coercive control will save lives. To help us change the law, we need you. Sign the petition here: https://bit.ly/2GEOTfk

03.01.2022 Hey Take 5'ers, We received this Readers to the Rescue question from Trudi: "After my first marriage crumbled, I never thought I’d find love again. I had two primary aged girls and had spent years with a man who made me feel unlovable. But two years after my divorce, I reconnected with a high school friend on Facebook. Things got flirty quickly and we began dating. After six months, I introduced him to my kids and they got along really well. A year and a half later, he propo...sed and I said yes! Excitedly, I changed my relationship status on Facebook. Soon after, I got a message from a girl we went to high school with who saw the status, accusing my fiancé of raping her best friend when we were younger. A few days later, the best friend messaged me, telling me about her experience and said he’d done it to other women too. As awful as it was, he’d never been forceful or disrespectful with me so I tried to brush it off as best I could. But this week, a friend confided in me that my fiancé had made her feel uncomfortable by slapping her bottom when she came over for dinner. It may seem like a small gesture but that’s sexual assault, and for it to be in our own house! And with my girls in their teens now, I’m scared that this is just the tip of the ice berg. What should I do?" If you have any advice for Trudi, comment down below for your chance to be featured in Take 5 Magazine.
