17.01.2022 Dusk at Lake Maraboon near #Emerald a few days ago. After six months happily plodding around in the outback, we've crossed the Great Dividing Range and are slowly heading towards the coast. We spent a week camped here near Emerald and are now making our way towards Carnarvon Gorge. 09.01.2022 One of the many creek crossings that we encountered on our daily bushwalks at #CarnarvonGorge. We're so proud of this intrepid six year old boy (and his older brother) for successfully tackling all of the walking tracks at Carnarvon Gorge. We walked over 50km in five days, including a big 20km walk in one day. This national park is on Bidjara and Karingbal country. 08.01.2022 I'm back after an amazing kid-free getaway to paradise for four days! I've been hanging out with an incredibly talented bunch of Queensland creators at Elysian Retreat in the beautiful Whitsundays! It's been a long time since I got away by myself and had a chance to chase my dreams and to immerse myself completely in the wonderful world of photography. I'm thankful to have such a supportive partner in Sam who has encouraged me at every step of my journey over the past few yea...rs. Whilst I love my little family dearly, I've recognised how important it is for me to have a purpose beyond full-time parenting, home schooling and domestic duties. This trip did wonders for my self-esteem and confidence, and was a wonderful opportunity to truly unwind and relax. I met some amazing people, learnt much and laughed often. It was also a wonderful opportunity for Sam to spend some quality time with our boys and they had a wonderful time hanging out together in Airlie Beach. As the full-time wage earner in our family, Sam misses out on a lot of our daily experiences with the kids as we travel. We're currently talking a lot about finding the right balance between family and work and personal time for creativity and good health. And we hope to find a better balance for both of us in the coming months. 04.01.2022 Ticking off life goals with a visit to the Betoota pub. I gave the beers away years ago but enjoyed a nice cold soft drink on the verandah of this iconic hotel. It reopened six weeks ago with a new owner, after being closed for a long while when the previous owner passed away. 04.01.2022 We said farewell to #CarnarvonGorge today, after a blissful eight days offline in this spectacular place. We bushwalked in the national park every day (even completing the 20km day walk to Big Bend and Cathedral Cave). We saw platypuses, pretty-faced wallabies and echidnas. 02.01.2022 The magical Millaa Millaa Falls in Tropical North Queensland. What a beautiful place. It should be noted that our view from the bus window required a little bit of work. We took a chance in the bus and followed the 'bus parking' signs down a narrow steep road... only to find there was no room to turn around 19 metres of bus and trailer (and the bus parking area was also filled with cars). We had to unload the car off the trailer, unhitch the trailer, turn the trailer around with the car, make a 37 point turn with the bus, hook the trailer back up and reload the car! A slow process but when you're in no hurry, it doesn't really matter!
