13.01.2022 If you have a child whose speech is unclear, theyre having trouble being understood by people and theyre getting frustrated or losing confidence then this post is for you. Heres the problem, when your child has unclear speech it can be hard to understand them which can be really frustrating for both of them and you. You may find them losing it when you or some else doesnt understand what theyre saying and over time you may find your patience wearing thin at their emotion...al outbursts. The other thing that can happen when theyre speech is unclear is that they lose confidence in themselves. They may avoid talking or withdraw from social situations because they know people wont understand what theyre saying to them. And lastly, if they head off to school with unclear speech they can have trouble learning to read and spell. So, if youve got a child with unclear speech and want to avoid these things comment SPEECH below and well send you 3 of our top tips for getting your childs speech clear and easy to understand. One way to help your child is to not be afraid of telling them you dont understand what theyve said and ask them to show you what theyre talking if possible. Now, sometimes that wont be possible because theyre telling you about something that happened during their day, perhaps at daycare. That's where getting photos sent to you from daycare can be super helpful in making sense of what theyre saying by looking and talking about the photos together. If you want more ways to help your child talk clearly comment 'SPEECH' below and we'll send them your way. #speech #unclearspeech #child #mychild #parentingtips #speechpathology #speechtherapy #talkplaygrow

07.01.2022 There are lots of different ways Speech Pathologists can help your child say sounds that are tricky for them to pronounce. Here are 3 cues you may find them using to help your child say a sound correctly: Visual cue: This is when they show your child how the sound is made. They may do this by getting your child to look at their face when they're saying the sound or looking at a picture card. Tactile cue: This is when they will physically help your child get their mouth... into the right position to say the sound correctly. Gestural cue: This is when they make a specific gesture with their hand to remind your child of the correct sound. All of these cues should be specifically tailored to your child. An excellent paediatric Speech Pathologist will be able to determine which cues work best for your child. They should guide and coach you on using these cues to get your child's speech more clear so they can communicate and connect successfully with people. #speechpathology #sounds #speech #speechtherapy #talkplaygrow
