23.01.2022 Girls STEM Game Jam - 18, 20 & 22 January After the success of our Rural and Regional Game Jam in 2020, we are hosting a thee day virtual camp just for girls from Years 7-10 in rural or regional Victoria without a Tech School facility. Participants will design their own game and controller gaining skills in block coding, digital design and 3D Modelling. Day 1: Creating their game in MakeCode Arcade... 11.01.2022 2021 Rural & Regional Game Jam Following the success of our Rural and Regional Victoria Game Jam held in September, we are thrilled to announce our second virtual Camp in partnership with The Lab an online Camp for young people with Autism or Asperger’s in Rural and Regional Victoria, from Years 7-10. The 2021 Rural and Regional Game Jam will run over 2 days during the January school holidays. This program is both an enhancement program for return participants, plus caters... for new attendees, with students matched with mentors with a passion for game design. Both days will focus on a different part of the game development process to create an exciting game with console, developing skills in coding and manufacturing. Each student will receive a tech kit valued at $130 containing their 3D printed handheld console loaded with the game they built ready to play! 2 Day - Camp Dates 19 January: Coding: for beginners and intermediate 21 January: Tinkercad 3D Design: for beginners and intermediate The program will give attendees the opportunity to learn together and develop their ideas. At the end of each day they will have a chance to show what they’ve achieved. This is a free online program funded by the Department of Education and Victoria, in partnership with The Lab specifically for young people in Rural and Regional Locations. 08.01.2022 On Friday our Middle school students debated ‘the Social Dilemma’ of our use of social media. Where Mitta won their debate arguing that ‘there is more to life than a device’. Hume also won their battle, contending that ‘technology is too great for our simple minds’. John McCormack and Holly Cooper were awarded speakers of the day.
