12.01.2022 Stressful week here at Tallarook Park Equestrian Centre in Glenrowan Victoria. My favourite mare Leanda Idle Gossip on Tuesday presented with colic, she quickly went down and wasnt looking good. Travelling her to a bigger vet clinic wasnt an option as she was too distressed. Vet who attended our property suggested we may lose her and the foal, we then discussed a c- section which was decided against. So I persisted on with pain killers and kept her sedated and comfortable.... This morning she foals a lovely chestnut filly by Langtree Dare to Dream. Lucky I am so vigilant and put in 100 percent into our horses as this was a red bag delivery. (Placenta comes out too) which usually results in a dead or weak foal, I was there for the birth and was able to break the bags off the foal which allowed mum to deliver safely. Mum and baby doing really well and mum looks like recovered from her dramatic colic. I am quite relieved I can now sleep at night again, a few nights up every hour took me back to the newborn baby days. I am a big believer in only breeding for a purpose. All my stock are quality registered ponies and galloways which i show from youngsters through to their saddle career. Most stay on with me and end up teaching riders the ropes in my riding lessons I offer. Quality horses, quality breeding and quality education provides my clients with a wonderful ride.

Cabaret has been such a brilliant pony winning multiple Royal show championships in her hay day and now teaching my own children the ropes. Here at Tallarook Park Equestrian Centre we offer riding lessons to all ages and all of our horses are proved winners educated and in a top quality environment.

Kindergarten aged rider sessions from 10-2pm weekdays is also being well supported. Come along and enjoy riding on quality school ponies and horses in a beautiful and professional setting.

09.01.2022 This photo is so powerful, and oh so true. What was your moment you became addicted ? Mine was a rocking horse my dad bought me and I was so lucky to live over the road from a horse club, that club was Canning Districts riding club. Every month they would hold a show and I would sit on my letterbox and watch the horse floats and stock trucks roll in. The thrill was to count how many horses were in each trailer

09.01.2022 Another brilliant end of year trail ride with the Benalla Pony Club mob. Ellie GILBERD rode our wonderful school pony Baggins, nearly 4 hours riding. Lots of cantering and a great river crossing. Looking forward to attending our first camp drafting clinic in the new year with other club members

07.01.2022 A question I get on a regular basis, how young do I start my child who is showing interest in horse riding? I start riding/interaction sessions from 2 yrs of age. Riding lessons as such from approx 5, but some children are keen and capable younger. My advice is you must be prepared to allow the children "hands on " time, yes it takes 5 times longer for them to groom the pony and yes they miss lots of bits, yes mucking out hooves takes much longer, putting halter on is at tim...es slow and painful. But this is where the children are learning their skills. Its not all about "riding" they must learn early that feeds must be done, mucking out is essential and care for the pony is the most important aspect of horsing. My advice is get them into riding with quality instructors and ponies or if your lucky enough to be experienced yourself get them an older schoolmaster to let them start out on. Happy horsing and keep the kids safe while doing it

03.01.2022 A little bit of foal time, a beautiful filly inside and out. Lovely to handle and do everything with. Early handling pays dividends

02.01.2022 A lovely morning busy with lessons, Daryl Hayes clinic. Followed by an afternoon of riding.

01.01.2022 I regularly have people ask me how my ponies and horses are so good all the time? Its all in the training and consistency of their handling care and needs. A little training tip, when one of my horses has either a halter or bridle on they are not to graze at all at any time. Allowing them to graze, they quickly learn to tow you or the children around. They then learn to reef the reins run off and eat grass while you are riding them, then someone comes off and gets hurt. ... Consistent rules gives the horse clear boundaries and a much nicer partnership. Happy horsing all .......
