25.01.2022 A Sense Of Identity - In early childhood settings children develop a sense of belonging when they feel accepted, develop attachments and trust those that care for them. As children are developing their sense of identity, they explore different aspects of it (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive), through their play and their relationships. The children in our Kindy room have been expressing their physical identities through self-portraits.

24.01.2022 At Tall Tree Kindy, we have been practising cutting with scissors. Learning how to use scissors plays an important role in developing the fine motor skills young children need in order to hold pencils for writing. Cutting with scissors works on the separation of two sides of the hand and strengthens hand muscles. It also helps to develops children eye-hand coordination and bilateral coordination.

24.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our wonderful dads! We hope you are having an amazing day

23.01.2022 Today we had a dog safety awareness presentation. This presentation was an opportunity for the Tall Tree Manning children to meet a registered therapy dog, named Ali and his owner, Kathryn (who is one of our Nursery Room Mums)! Kathryn conducted a short speech introducing herself and Ali the dog, and then each child had an opportunity to either come pat Ali, give him a treat or play fetch! Kathryn spoke with the children about safety around dogs and asking for permission to pat a dog before approaching them. Kathryn is a registered vet nurse/dog trainer with over ten years experience. She also runs a small pet care business in the area. Head to https://www.madpaws.com.au//kathryn-h-experienced-vet-nurs if you would like to learn more about the services Kathryn offers.

22.01.2022 "One person caring about another, represents life's greatest value." Recently, a local community member in Manning asked the public for drawings with words of kindness and encouragement to gift to the elderly living in three local Nursing homes. Our Tall Tree Manning children created some beautiful rainbows with messages of hope for the elderly. They may be isolated, but they are not alone .

21.01.2022 Our children had a special guest this week! Dr John Cobley from Manning Dental came to the centre to educate our children on the importance of taking care of our teeth! Dr John showed us how to brush our teeth, care for our teeth by eating healthy foods and even gave us some special colouring in worksheets and stickers! Thank you so much Manning Dental for coming to visit us. Manning Dental is located next to IGA on Bradshaw Crescent. This incursion links to quality area 3.2 of the EYLF - Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical well-being.

21.01.2022 Today we celebrate our half birthday! Wow, we cant believe we have been open for 6 months! What is your favourite thing about Tall Tree Early Learning Manning?

21.01.2022 In Kindy, our children have been extending on their interest in nature. So we participated in an art activity where children would recreate their interpretation of Monet's garden. Monets paintings arent very detailed and rather than replicate the scene before him, he focused on painting what the scene said to him. This is a great way of getting children to understand art too, by asking them to express ideas before them. For this activity we used crayons and green watercolour wash on top. Giving children a chance to develop their ability to use materials, develop imagination and creativity.

20.01.2022 We are very proud to announce the launch of our delicious new Winter Menu, which will commence next Monday 13th July. We have been working with Anna and Alex at The Biting Truth, a dynamo Nutrition team of Accredited and Practicing Dietitians for some time to create a brand-new menu for all our centres. Our new Winter Menu has been designed to ensure maximum nutrition for rapidly growing bodies, using wholesome ingredients, no added sugar, and a variety of ingredients to ensure we are continually introducing new foods for the children to try. This week our wonderful Food Coordinators are trialling some of our brand-new dishes, see your daily Kindyhub journals to find out the exciting meals your little ones have enjoyed.

20.01.2022 Today, our Kindy went on an excursion to our local park. While we were walking about, we found rubbish on the floor. This allowed us to learn about the world we live in and how we should take care of it. Being out in nature also allows us to see plants grow and how they change throughout the year. We also brought some soccer balls down to kick around. This allows us to develop social skills, such as learning how to share and negotiate. Playing with balls improves our motor skills, hand-eye coordination and timing.

20.01.2022 As an extension of our learning about nature, our educators set up a life cycle of a plant provocation. This has prompted the children to write their own plant life cycle's. We even had little plants we potted that we are observing and watering every day! We have been discussing with children different reusable items we could use to make pot plants - incorporating sustainability within our learning.

20.01.2022 In kindy we have been learning about our feelings and emotions. We explored our feelings through books and creating our own Zen Zone corner. We then extended on this learning by making emotion portraits. In this activity we looked into a mirror and captured an emotion onto paper. Understanding our emotions helps us to develop self regulation, better understand ourselves and our feelings.

17.01.2022 Come and see us at the City of South Perth's FREE Halloween event at Manning Library on Friday 30th October. Our Educators will have a range of craft activities for your little ones to enjoy!

If your child attends Kindy at school we can provide alternate days in our Kindy Room to fit around their school schedule. 15.01.2022 The children in the Babies Room have been developing their independent eating skills! When children feed themselves, they develop fine motor skills through touching, grasping, spooning, squeezing and of course dropping food. Independent eating provides children opportunities for development with sensory skills as they explore foods tastes, textures, smells, colours & temperature. At Tall Tree Manning we are focusing on independent eating and self help skills. In the coming weeks, we will also be learning how to wash our own dishes and cups after meals!

14.01.2022 This Wednesday 2nd September is Early Childhood Educator's Day. Please write our educators a little note and place it in the jar in our foyer area, it would really make our day

14.01.2022 This week our Kindy children have been learning about Dutch post-impressionist painter, Vincent van Gogh. Using bold colours, dramatic and expressive brushwork, our children created their own Van Gogh inspired pieces. Our Kindy children then mentored the Toddler children in creating their very own paintings after.

14.01.2022 Such a great community service which is also located at the Manning Commuity Hub. Have you signed up to become a member of the Toy Library?

13.01.2022 In Kindy, we have been looking at the famous artist Henri Matisse. For this activity we took inspiration from his artwork ‘The Snail’. This activity is a great way to get in cutting practice, think about composition, and colour theory. With young children who are new to using scissors, it's a great introduction to cutting paper, because there really is no "wrong" shape. The same activity can be made more challenging for older children by asking them to emulate some of Matisse...'s shapes in their art. 4.1 Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. 5.3 Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media. WAKCG Explore and experiment with form, shape, colour, line, texture, contrast, patterns in art works.

12.01.2022 Today is ANZAC day in Australia. Today we remember. The sacrifices and heroism of everyday Australian's will not be lost, but handed down to future generations. Throughout the week, our children have been learning about the ANZAC's. The Toddler and Kindy children have been having meaningful discussions about ANZAC Day and the ANZAC spirit through the exploration of songs, poems, and stories. Having conversations with children about ANZAC day ensures that stories about Austr...alias heroes and history are passed down to our younger generation. During the week we made poppy flowers by reusing paper from old books, poppy prints onto photos of our hands, and fabric dyeing to make a collaborative wreath. Using poppies made from red craft paper, black dyed glue and grass to resemble the stem of the flower, each of the babies took turns to glue the page and stick down some poppies and stems. See more

11.01.2022 Happy Halloween to all our Tall Tree Early Learning - Manning families! Yesterday, we held a Halloween dress-up day at the centre before heading down to the City of South Perth Halloween event. A HUGE thank you to Educators Becca and Bek for putting together activities for our community to engage in. We had so much fun making our own nature wands, scary clay monsters, pumpkin play dough and pumpkin interpretive art. This links to the Learning Outcome 2.2 of the Early Years Learning Franework: Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.

10.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our Tall Tree families! Our Tall Tree friends enjoyed creating Easter crafts all week long. We hope our Kindy and Toddler friends enjoyed their activity packs over the weekend and that our families of the babies enjoyed seeing their creations and bunny photographs.

10.01.2022 The Babies room have been exploring natural dyes in the last few weeks. They created three different natural dyes, which were made out of turmeric, blueberry's and coffee grinds. We poured the ingredients into the glasses and added hot water until we reached our desired consistency. We then created a large scale collaborative art piece on a recycled piece of fabric.

09.01.2022 On Thursday the children made pinch pots! We started this project by forming the clay into the shape of a ball, we then stuck our thumbs down the middle and slowly moved the clay out to form a pot. The children then used different leaves and gum nuts they collected during our bush walk the week prior and integrated these materials into our art. This connects with the Early Years Learning Framework, Outcome 4.4 - Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, places, technologies and natural and processed materials.

07.01.2022 We would like to wish all our wonderful families a very Happy Easter! Please be reminded we are CLOSED on Good Friday and Easter Monday. 06.01.2022 Look at this amazing wooden sensory board we received as a gift from one of our creative mums! Thank you so much Lauren for creating this beautiful piece for us. Her toys are crafted from nature and the individuality & character of each piece is totally unique. Head on over to Little Earth Toys to help support local businesses.

06.01.2022 In our Kindy room, we love using nature as a teacher. Learning through nature helps us to develop a broad range of cognitive skills, including observation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It sparks a sense of exploration and discovery. In the process, we develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for nature. To deepen our understandings, we planted a grapefruit tree and a Western Australian Native Spring Mist plant. We discussed about the benefits of giving back to our environments through planting and things we need to do to nurture and care for our plants.

04.01.2022 All children need is a little help, a little hope and someone who believes in them. Today we jumped into our Pyjamas to take part in National Pyjama Day. We loved creating dream-catchers, eating our healthy popcorn (Thanks Bek!) and being super comfy! National Pyjama Day helps raise vital funds for children in foster care. We helped raise $207.90. Thank you to all our families for your kind donations

03.01.2022 This week we celebrated AFL finals by getting dress-up in our favourite team colours and attire! Some of our friends brought their footballs to the centre and we were able to go on an excursion and have a game of football together . We were even able to play on the playground and explore nature afterwards, followed by a picnic lunch back at the centre

03.01.2022 This week Tall Tree Manning took part in Science Week. Young children are naturally inquisitive, full of questions about the world around them and the drive to investigate how things work. It follows, therefore, that we should take advantage of this innate curiosity and start channelling their enthusiasm for scientific discovery as early on as possible. Science in Early Years Education can foster a lifelong love for science, gives basic grounding in scientific concepts and scientific thinking and supports the development of other skills and attributes.

02.01.2022 How creative are our Educators here at Tall Tree Manning? Currently, our families are dropping and collecting their children off in the foyer to help maintain the spread of germs. As you are unable to see our care rooms, here are some photographs of recent creations and spaces within the service. I would also like to take a moment to thank our amazingly talented, passionate and truly inspiring Educators here at Tall Tree. The last few weeks have been unpredictable and in suc...h uncertain times it is so wonderful to have such a positive team that strives for the best possible outcome for the children, families and centre as a whole. You are all amazing, thank you so much for all that you do! - Jess

02.01.2022 Polly the Lamb came to visit the children at Tall Tree Manning today! Our Tall Tree Subiaco centre fostered Polly and were very kind to let Polly visit our children for the next few days. The children enjoyed assisting Polly to drink water out of her bottle, feeding Polly hay when she was hungry and giving her lots of cuddles! Did you know, research has shown that when children care for animals, they are more likely to have high self-esteem which in turn improves a range of outcomes throughout their lives. Children can learn the responsibility of caring for an animal who relies on them to be fed, given water and cleaned on a regular basis. Responsibility is a valuable skill for life.

02.01.2022 NAIDOC Week's theme this year is "Always Was, Always Will Be" In celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people's achievements, our children have been further learning about the traditions, language and music of the Whadjuk people this week.

01.01.2022 Community Connections- At Tall Tree Early Learning, our Program focuses heavily on forming connections with the local community. While we aren't currently able to get outside to explore and meet people, we can still connect with them. It is important during these unprecedented times to stay connected to the outside world in order to maintain our own sense of identity.... Ways to help you stay connected with others can include; Writing letters and making cards to send to family and friends. Video calling apps (Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp). Participating in community initiatives, such as displaying rainbows and teddy bears in your front windows for other children to see. talltree.net.au | [email protected] | 6115 0048
