25.01.2022 One of the most dangerous myths we have inherited from our superficial culture is that healing is always supposed to 'feel good'. No. Sometimes our discomfort actually intensifies as darkness emerges into light, as unconscious material makes its way into present awareness, as our old illusions burn up in a fever of healing. ... Perhaps our discomfort is not wrong, a mistake, or a sign that we have lost our healing path. Remember, the presence of pain today may actually indicate that our healing process is intensifying, not stalling; that we are actually more awake and sensitive than ever now, less numb, less willing to turn away, more in touch with our sacred vulnerability. There is such a tendency in our culture to avoid discomfort of any kind, distract ourselves from it, label it as 'wrong' or 'negative' or even ‘unspiritual’, meditate or medicate it away. Much of our Western medicine is geared towards the removal of symptoms, the silencing of disruption, the numbing of chaos and the journey towards some socially acceptable 'normality'. But sometimes, friends, we no longer have any interest in 'returning to normal'! The 'normal' was the problem, not the solution! The status quo needed to shift. It was unstable and false. Our old conception of reality was keeping us trapped and we needed to break free! Sometimes a deadening and soul-destroying 'normality' needs to shatter into chaos and crisis; our pain and sorrow, frustration, exhaustion, fear and doubts need to be felt more fully than ever before, and the heart needs to break open more completely. So let the winds blow, let the tempests rage, let all that is false be purified, let all that is dead remain dead, let life explode where you are! You are only being invited now to a deeper healing, friend, even though it feels like you're getting 'worse', even though the heart is tender and raw, even though you cannot yet feel your tomorrows! Soon you will rise like a phoenix! Author~ Jeff Foster Who else feels this? Blessings everyone
19.01.2022 As a teacher and guide of self care practices for the last 6 years or so I have narrowed down 10 of what I believe to be some of the most important. Most of you will know these practices but we all need reminding dont we? Breathe. Start and end the day with some slow deep breathing also during the day stop and take a few conscious breaths. Spend some time in Nature. Hug a tree. Walk barefoot on the grass. Walk on the beach.... Meditate. Keep it simple, sit still and watch your thoughts start with just 2 minutes and slowly increase the time or do this many times through out the day. Write. Just put pen to paper and write about the first thing that pops into your head. Move. your body we all know this and we have to stop sitting for long periods of time so get up and dance or squat or something every hour. Feel. Feel your feelings sit with whatever is there and breath and feel. Get off the phone. Notice how much screen time you are having. Connect to a Higher Power. Pray. Whatever that means for you. Gratitude. Practice gratitude count your blessings. What are you grateful for. Spend time alone. Just YOU in Silence. If you want to go deeper into your Self care and Self Awareness and Self acceptance join me online for weekly sacred self care circles or in person Full Moon Sacred Healing Circles in Brisbane. PM me for details. Love and Blessings Tamara
14.01.2022 Bodhisattva Prayer for Humanity: A prayer performed daily by by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Buddhist all over the world: May I be a guard for those who need protection... A guide for those on the path A boat, a raft, a bridge for those who wish to cross the flood May I be a lamp in the darkness A resting place for the weary A healing medicine for all who are sick A vase of plenty, a tree of miracles And for the boundless multitudes of living beings May I bring sustenance and awakening Enduring like the earth and sky Until all beings are freed from sorrow And all are awakened. - Shantideva, Indian Buddhist sage 700 A.D. 09.01.2022 The next time you notice you’ve turned against yourself, tangled in a looping storyline about how you’ve failed, how you’re not enough, how there is something wrong with you Slow way down. Allow your centre of gravity to drop, directing your energy and awareness toward the ground. ... Feel your feet on the earth. Before you abandon yourself and your embodied vulnerability parachuting into the unstable waters of rumination, shame, and blame sense the roots extending out of the bottom of your feet and into the mud and the womb and the holding field underneath you. In just this one micro moment, you are being asked to care for yourself in a new way, to see behind the veil, to cleanse your perception, and with compassion, to encode a new pathway. To provide a home, a sanctuary for the emotional and somatic world to unfold and be held. With the ally of the breath, shift your precious life energy out of the overwhelming narrative, for it is no longer safe there. It is neither nuanced, nor subtle, not majestic enough to honor what you are and the intelligence of the ally and Friend as it courses through you. Open into your belly, your heart, your throat, and the holiness of your nervous system. Place your hand onto the rippling life and listen. Taking a few deep breaths, ask: what is wanting to be met now? To be known? To be birthed and touched in this moment? What is the wisdom of the soul, in its creative unfolding, longing for me to feel and metabolize? In what way am I being asked to care for the vulnerable, the tender, and the shaky within me? With curiosity, patience, and mercy, see the ways you leave the embodied world of pure feeling, bailing on your vulnerability as you escape back into the conditioned, old, unsafe narrative of complaint, resentment, shame, blame, and self-attack. Return home. While it may seem you are longing for something outside you, in these moments you are only longing for your own presence. For safety where it was unsafe. Companionship where you were lonely. Reassurance where you were afraid. For you need yourself now more than ever. This world needs you now more than ever.~ ~Matt Licata
