23.01.2022 There's so much to learn all around us, even in our own homes. Collecting pieces of nature and turning it into art is just one of the many ways our students are still learning at home in our houses turned classrooms. We are also very fortunate to have ongoing connections and teaching guidance from our teachers.

23.01.2022 Bush School was greatly missed earlier this year when restrictions were in place. It's so wonderful watching the students reaquaint themselves with their connections to place and nature on their weekly bush school day. The rewards of playing in mud, climbing trees, ferrying branches across fields to construct shelters, forts and cubbies, interacting with the local fauna and learning first hand about life cycles of plants and animals is truly immeasurable. Grey skies, long shadows and swampy ground - yet another of nature's expertly crafted playgrounds.

22.01.2022 There were some very big smiles this morning as the TVSS students arrived at school to friendly snowball fights. What an incredible day in Launceston! @ Tasmania, Austraila

19.01.2022 Tamar Valley Steiner School's inaugural passing of the light. As we farewelled our College Chair of the past 4 years Annie Ball, we welcomed our newly appointed principal Stephen Norris with Annie passing the light that will continue to illuminate the path forward for this little, but growing, school. As Stephen quoted in his speech "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel." - Socrates. @ Launceston, Tasmania

19.01.2022 We are so excited about this announcement.

18.01.2022 First week back of term three was met with freezing cold mornings, sunshine filled days and faces covered with joyful little smiles. Welcome back to all our students new and old, our wonderful teachers and admin and a big welcome to our new School Principal Stephen Norris.

18.01.2022 Our students all enjoyed their first day back at Bush school yesterday! You know it's been a good day when they come home head to toe covered in dirt, with feathers in their hats, and carefully selected stick and rock treasures accumulated in the bottom of their school bags.

17.01.2022 One of @thewillowdels beautiful peg looms in action from one of our families learning at home. Theyve decided to all make woven squares to stitch together and create an isolation quilt that they can all huddle under as the Tasmanian cold sets in over the next few weeks and months. Hopefully itll be ready by winter!

17.01.2022 We are back! Welcoming in 2020 with the fruits of summers' labors in the form of a wonderful new car park at our new site. Bit by bit our little school is growing, setting down its roots and paving the way for continued growth. @ Launceston, Tasmania

17.01.2022 Rainy days, and days in isolation call for puppet theatres! It's wonderful to see what our students who are currently learning from home are up to during this time in isolation.

16.01.2022 Many of our students are now sharing their days with their furry friends, learning alongside animals is such a delight. While it is difficult to settle into the changes happening all around us at the moment, there are always silver linings. And this photo from one of our families highlights one of those silver linings; learning alongside our animal friends.

16.01.2022 Play is the highest form of research. ~ Albert Einstein And what a beautiful space for research/play our kinder class has.

16.01.2022 Term Two. Day one. Our kinder children collected their remote learning packs yesterday and the excitement was truly palpable. Amongst the many delightful projects, stories, verses and games were the materials to create a felt and silk meteor! How wonderful it will be to see all their meteors reunited in a meteor shower once they return to their beloved kinder classroom. * @luelleimages @ Launceston, Tasmania

15.01.2022 With increasing students returning to school after so long in isolation - the reuniting of friends, the re-aquainting with favourite school yard trees and the reconnection with their wonderful teachers is such a reminder of the joy and importance of community connection.

14.01.2022 Bouncing into the week like our kinder students on the favoured bouncy branch of our magnificent big Laurel tree. Tree climbing and testing our physical capabilities in nature is such a developmentally important lesson in guaging our own limitations, figuring out our own abilities and fostering confidence, both physically and intuitively. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all begin our day with an invigirating climb up into the welcoming arms of a big laurel tree.

The snowdrops were first, the crocus and rosies, daffodils, violets, and all sorts of posies, yawning and stretching under Radiant Sun. Yes, all we flowers create spring time fun!" 07.01.2022 There is simply nothing more powerful than the bedtime storyespecially in this age of continuous screen time. As we go deeper into the discussion, we start to ...see how the bedtime story is the perfect ending to the day. So lets rethink and reclaim this special decompression time for both parent and child. It is not just something we are doing for our kidsthe benefits accrue to us as well. We dont just read to our kids, we read with our kids. Here are five reasons why the bedtime story is the most powerful family ritual:

06.01.2022 Ochre-making circle of dear friends at Trevallyn Reserve. It never ceases to be amazing and delightful seeing their level of focus and commitment to working with each other, not against. The success of their wonderful community, and by extention that of the entire school, is as a result of their keenness to be helpful and kind to each other.

05.01.2022 Beautiful sunny autumn days at our Station Rd campus after some chilly and wet weather. While some students have returned to school, many are still learning remotely as term two unfold in this new terrain. Maintaining connections between teachers and their students and the children and their peers has seen friendships and relationships evolve in novel ways. Although moments prove difficult for many at times, overwhelmingly this period of adaptation and change had been filled with positive experiences and gentle approaches to schooling.

03.01.2022 Our families sure are creating some beautiful nature tables in their homes. Daily rhythms and taking the time, where possible, to create contemplative spaces and scenes is such a joyful way to stay connected to our environment, nature and the seasons. How magic is this autumnul nature table!

02.01.2022 Steiner students become increasingly knowledgeable on colour theory through the thread of wet-on-wet painting during their early education. The fluidity of being able to mix colours and watch their movement on wet paper can be almost hypnotic. Watching as colours bleed one into another, spreading and reuniting and creating new colours is an enchanting way of learning about how liquids, paper and colours interact. The visual dances that occur as the child paints offers simultaneously a sense of authorship, expression and experimentation to the child. @ Launceston, Tasmania
