14.01.2022 Hi my name is Joy Penney. I am sorting through old photos my mother, Vera Price had - she was a Kurtz, grew up at Cassilis. There is a beautiful photo (original) of Kate Smith, Tambar Springs (written on the back by my grandmother I think. I have found a marriage of a Kate Newman to Charles Smith in 1889 in Tamworth. Perhaps someone in the area may be able to help me return this photo to a family.

05.01.2022 A $70,000+ project to replace the floors and piers at Spring Ridge Hall will commence shortly, being undertaken by Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) with fu...nding received through a successful application to the NSW Government’s Drought Stimulus Package. Council has engaged local contractors Graham and Phillip Batho to undertake the project. The main objective of this package is to deliver economic stimulus by fast-tracking local infrastructure projects that will provide lasting benefits to the community, said LPSC Mayor, Councillor Andrew Hope. Community halls, like the one at Spring Ridge, are part of the glue that binds rural communities together. Our rural villages are an important part of the Shire’s history and character and also have an exciting role to play in the future so a community hub such as the hall is important, he said. Spring Ridge resident Pippi Beer said, The project at the local hall means a lot to the community. Playgroup, pre-school, yoga classes, school presentation days, community fundraisers, meetings and entertainment are all staged at the hall, so it really is a hub that brings the local community closer together. This is great news for Spring Ridge because communities in more isolated areas are reliant on their local infrastructure for their wellbeing. In the same light, Council will soon be announcing projects to be undertaken at Premer and Warrah Creek, Councillor Hope said. A big thanks to Member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen, for supporting these projects. It is important to think about and support our villages, places we live in, work or visit, to think about the needs of those places and communities now and in years to come and how they can contribute to the region and better serve local communities, he concluded
