15.01.2022 Tamborine Mountain Bridge Club set aside last Thursday afternoon's session to raise funds that will aid bushfire recovery. The club waived table fees and instead asked players to dig deep into their pockets to donate to the appeal. The 36 bridge players raised $844 during the afternoon. ... Club President Denise Merrin said: "Individuals often feel helpless in donating in these situations, but when a group or club bands together we can make a real difference." The fund-raiser was part of an effort coordinated by the Queensland Bridge Association. QBA Manager Kim Ellaway said: "As we have done for drought and flood victims in the past, we as a bridge community in Queensland have organised a State-wide donation to the fire appeal. Clubs of the QBA raised over $25,000 for drought victims in 2018 and just under $20,000 for the flood many years before that." The QBA began the appeal with a donation of $2,000.
