17.01.2022 I understand why I'm getting inboxes asking if the March is on x The March that would have been Organised by NAIDOC SA is not happening because they aren't able... to have the Community Stalls & set up that we usually have due to Covid & the restrictions they have in place atm when it comes to stalls people walking through handling products etc. It doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't march. Especially since there are so many things to March for Our flags were taken down all over the country today... on what is remembrance day... When our people fought for this country & some were left behind after doing so we are still fighting to protect this place & honour their memory to this day.. Removing our flags was not honouring them or their sacrifice.. Our people are still being killed In Custody, are still dealing with police brutality... Our kids are still being removed & placed in situations where culture & connection are left behind... Our rights as human beings & needs & lore as cultural custodians as first nations people & protectors of this place are still being ignored.. Our sites are still being destroyed & abused... The March/Marches are standing for all of those fights & acknowledging how far we have come as a people & how far we have got to go as a country... It's a week that we Celebrate who we are & celebrate each other our resilience our power & our beautiful culture & how we rise above An Alternative has been organised for the people with approval There are a few hundred thinking about attending & 40 people who said they will be there.. The March is for the People Our People & anyone that wants to support Our People & Celebrate who & what we are The First Nations People of this beautiful land... The council, police & parliment house have been notified & are playing ball & have given their green lights. There is no reason why We can't March We are meeting on Friday the 13th of November at 10.30am at Victoria Square Always Was & Always Will Be X

02.01.2022 Tyrown Waigana, a proud Noongar and Saibai Islander man based in Perth, has been named as the winner of the prestigious National NAIDOC Poster Competition. His ...winning entry - Shape of Land - was judged to have best illustrated the 2020 NAIDOC theme: Always Was Always Will Be. The 23-year-old artist explains his winning entry depicts the Rainbow Serpent coming out of the Dreamtime to create this country and how we are strongly connected to it. The Rainbow Serpent is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - always was, and always will be Aboriginal land, Mr Waigana added.
