22.01.2022 Flexibility and flexible thinking is so important at times like this. Our daughter's wedding has been cancelled for 7 weeks time, however we are so excited to celebrate next week in a small, intimate ceremony. Not what we planned and hoped for, but an opportunity to celebrate two people agreeing to support and love one another no matter what. It has never been a more important time to remember what truly is important in life. I have been challenged to have a major mindset in the last few days, and I encourage you to think about your mindset, and how you can re-frame to lift your mood. #mackaymentalhealth

21.01.2022 I encourage everyone to buy a ticket to this screening, I have bought the first two tickets, 51 need to be sold for it to be screened here in Mackay. It sounds like an emotional movie, but one that will help shed the light on the prejudices that many of our clients experience every day. This is the description on the site, there is a trailer there to watch too. 24 year old Claire Murray’s desperate search for a life-saving second liver transplant becomes a trial by national... media, which depicts her as an ungrateful junkie who recklessly destroyed her first transplant by relapsing into drug use. She is condemned by the public But what the public doesn’t know is that Claire has a terrible secret: a horrific crime that remains unsolved. Catholic institutional obstruction, medical negligence, missing police records, and trial by mainstream and social media, are all at play in this heartbreaking and gripping real-life drama. Poignant and profoundly disturbing the final revelation stuns. This story opens our eyes to the impacts of universal social injustices and prejudices that could befall anyone and anybody’s daughter.

16.01.2022 I am so excited - As some of you may know, and many other may not, I have decided it is time to step up and write my first book. My book is called Keep Calm and Treat Addiction and I am writing it because in my experience, many clinicians feel inadequate to support their clients with addiction. I have identified a demand for an easy-to-read resource to support clinicians and service providers to work with their clients experiencing addiction. My goal is to demystify addiction... treatment, facilitating clinicians to feel confident that they can Keep Calm & Treat Addiction My book will be back from the publishers in June and will sell for $29.95 yet I have decided to offer it for sale at a pre-release price of $19.95 plus $5 postage Australia wide. Please visit https://taniakellyhealth.com.au/buy-the-book if you are interested in being one of the first to get a copy of Keep Calm and Treat Addiction and support me on my journey to published author. 11.01.2022 Sometimes your health heroes are where you least expect them, and we don’t just need them in Covid times. We automatically think of the nurses and doctors, but there are so many others who play a big part in health recovery. I’ve unfortunately found myself in the patient role for some routine surgery, and there is nothing like being a vulnerable patient to remind you of the fundamentals of good patient care. Today when I was well enough to walk to the coffee shop, I slipped i...n an extra order for a receptionist at a specialist clinic I had to unexpectedly visit yesterday, leaving me unprepared without a support person. This receptionist noticed I had been there for a long time and came to check on me with a glass of water, and talked to me by name although she had only met me. She had empathy in her voice and brought me tissues. Seems simple? It is, but it is sadly often forgotten. I’m sure all of us as health providers can forget the importance of these gestures. She seemed shocked that I was acknowledging such a simple act, but it is important to be thankful for those who make a huge positive impact on our days and difficult moments. See more

09.01.2022 Whilst addiction treatment is a specialty area, there are many clients who won’t visit an alcohol and drug service but are seeing a variety of other service providers. I saw there was a demand for an easy to read resource to support clinicians and service providers to work with their clients who are experiencing addiction. This blog is a glimpse into my new book, Keep Calm & Treat Addiction, written with the goal to demystify addiction, facilitating clinicians to grasp the fundamentals of addiction treatment and better support clients on their recovery journey.

02.01.2022 Had a great morning sharing my book with Joyce Mcswan, Clinical Director, GCPHN Persistent Pain Program and Managing Director, PainWISE and hearing all about her inspiring work in the field of pain management. We could spend hours talking about our passions, and the grey area where pain management and addiction cross over...and we did!
