14.01.2022 As the Corona Virus restrictions and support draw to a close we look at life post Covid and what has and might happen to the local property market. Firstly life post Covid, regular hand sanitisation, social distancing, mask wearing, predominantly national travel only with limited international travel bubbles, immigration and emigration levels at almost zero. This becomes the norm until such time as a vaccine is available. Remote home based workforces along with online shoppin...g becomes the norm pre and post vaccine. Government deficits and ongoing stimulus through borrowing to add to the money supply continue. What has happened to the local property market, people have been cautious and conservative lowering property numbers for sale at a time when some $24 billion net stimulus has been added. The result of this has been increased prices for all types of property. What might happen to the local market moving forward, people keep moving north out of Sydney, Government printed money and record low interest rates keep pushing up asset prices. Is this enough to offset the reduced immigration numbers and mortgage stress through the resulting higher unemployment. For mine, whilst ever the Government is printing more money property prices will continue to rise and it is a time to hold on to what you have got and buy more if your finances will allow it.
