25.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 30 July, 2020 Another beautiful day on the course after some heavy rains during the week. A little damp underfoot but the gals enjoyed the walk. Division 1 Overall winner was Jess Oshailee with 36 Stableford Points, who has the X Factor and continues to improve. She is close to having the complete game and has all the tricks up her sleeve. Many thanks to Elizabeth Bradshaw, the trophy donor this week. Runner up was Chris Osborne who was hot on J...ess heels with 35 points great effort by Chris. 3rd Placegetter was Karen Wallis with 32 points and 4th was the ever consistent Dot Hissey with 31 Points. 24.01.2022 Golfy Report Thursday, 18 June, 2020 First Round of the Foursomes and the Fillies were keen to Tee Off but not before our Captain, Beth Magick gave the girls a quick rundown on the Conditions of Play due to the COVID-19. Fortunately, the weather turned out quite warm after a heavy fog earlier on and as the day progressed, the girls shed their woollies by the time they reached the final hole. Winners on the day were Chris Osborne and Jayne Berriman with a Gross score of 10...8 (Nett 75). Ive seen the girls practice on the fairways leading up to the competition, so their efforts have paid off. Runners Up were Sue Armstrong and Karen Wallis with a Gross score of 109 (Nett 81). Sue played particularly well under the pressure of it all and we were happy with the result. 3rd Placegetters were Dot Hissey and Jess Oshailee with a Gross score of 112 (Nett 86). Perhaps nerves got the better of them on the day as I know they can improve on that next week. 4th Placegetters were Cathy Kleinmeulman and Lynda McDougall with a Gross score of 114 (Nett 80). Both players combined really well considering Lynda being a new member and still familiarising herself with the course. Beth Magick and Meryl Nolan with a Gross 126 (Nett 91.5) and June Hamilton and Margaret Street with a Gross 133 (Nett 93.5) didnt quite get it together on the day; however, Round 2 will no doubt inspire the girls to focus and rally next week. We welcome back Lucy Colecliffe who has been out of action for a while with a dicky shoulder. I spoke to her after the game and she was quite pleased with the way she played. See you again next week, Lucy. Todays photo is of our winners today, the team of Chris and Jayne. Well done, girls. Of course, next week, we have Round 2 of the Foursomes and then the following 3 weeks, our Championships. Until next week, stay safe and happy golfing. Karen Wallis

Division 2 Winner was Robin McClelland with 30 points and she was all smiles in receiving her trophy. Runner up was Cathy Kleinmeulman with 29 points on a count back a great effort considering she was suffering from sinus. 3rd and 4th Placegetters were Sandy Hunkin with 29 points who just keeps chipping away each week and Jayne Berriman with 25 points and is looking in great shape leading up to the Foursomes next week. Congratulations to all the ladies on the day. Next week, we have Round 1 of the Foursomes Championships and I can see that the Fillies are fired up for the challenge. Todays photo is of Veronica and that cheeky smile of hers. Until next week, happy golfing. Karen Wallis.

23.01.2022 Golfy News - Thursday, 6 August, 2020 A brisk but sunny morning on the course and we contested the Mabel McKenzie Brooch and the Monthly Medal Events. Division 1 Winner of the Monthly Medal was Jess Oshailee with a Nett 80 and who continues to shine week after week. Her golf just keeps improving. Runner up was Karen Wallis also with a Nett 80. 3rd Placegetter was Amanda Patterson with a Nett 81 and considering she hasnt played a lot of golf this year she sure plays ...a top class game. 4th Placegetter was Lynda McDougall with a Nett 86 and her short game really sparkled today. Division 2 Winner was Robin McClelland with a sensational Nett 71. Rob has developed into a very stylish player this year perhaps she has been having a few sneaky lessons ... Runner up was Margaret Street with a Nett 80 and is progressing in leaps and bounds with some great results of late. 3rd Placegetter was Sandy Hunkin with a Nett 84 a pleasing result for Sandy who whittles away at her game each week. 4th Placegetter was Cathy Kleinmeulman with a Nett 85. 23.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 19 March, 2020 Our scheduled Match Play Event didnt go ahead so we decided on a Stableford game. After a spot of rain during the week, the day turned out quite hot and the fillies looked a little frazzled. The score cards werent exactly outstanding, but Meryl Nolan played another steady game to take out the Trophy with 27 points. Runner Up was June Hamilton with 26 Points. 3rd and 4th Placegetters were Helen Horton and Chris Osborne. Good to see... Chris familiar face around the Club. Only 1 x Nearest the Pin - the 7th Hole which went to Chris Osborne. Robin McClelland won the Meat Raffle. We have challenging times ahead. The COVID 19 outbreak changes daily and is becoming quite disruptive to our day to day lives and, of course, our golf. As advised by Golf NSW this week, we were obligated to keep the Pin in the hole and not to use bunker rakes. The Clubhouse furniture has been re-arranged so everyone is at a safe distance. Now our Pennants matches are at jeopardy and player participation is entirely voluntary. On behalf of all the Tanilba Ladies, I ask that we show common sense and we shall ride the storm together. We had a few birthdays this month Elizabeth Bradshaw (3rd), Dot Hissey and Helen Venner (18th), Amanda Kalie (16th) and Karen Wallis (20th). All the best for your special day ladies. Next week, we have a 2BBB Event and hopefully we have a few more players than this week. Todays photo is of Meryl shes had a rather a stressful year to date but continues to keep smiling. Hang in there, Mel. Until next week, happy golfing, Karen Wallis.

21.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 22 October, 2020 A pleasant day on the fairways with a great gathering of 20 players for the Multiplier. Winners were the Team of Robin McClelland and Veronica Williams with 76 points not a bad effort from the Fillies who played consistently hole for hole. Veronica playing an outstanding game with 43 stableford points. Runners Up was the experienced Team of Chris Osborne and Lynda McDougall with 66 points (c/b) a good combination of those two lar...rikins who regularly figure in the standings for their individual games. Balls went to the Team of Meryl Nolan and Sue Armstrong with 66 points (c/b) a very good result for both players and will boost their confidence for next week’s Monthly Medal Playoff. It was a pleasure to see Catherine Henderson return for a game at Tanilba together with a friend and visitor, Maria Mason who notched up 66 points a fine effort from the girls and both winning a ball each. Tanilba had two (2) representatives who competed in the Golf NSW Medal Playoff at Shortland Waters on Monday, 19 October, 2020 Chris Osborne (Division 2) and Jayne Berriman (Division 3). Both Chris and Jayne played outstanding golf at the challenging Shortland Waters course with Jayne winning her Division and Chris coming in 4th in her Division. Sandy Hunkin with a Nett score of 77 and June Hamilton with a Nett score of 82 on a countback were our 3rd and 4th Placegetters. Division 1 Winner was Lynda McDougall with a very impressive Nett score of 77 winning on a countback. Lynda is one of our newest recruits and she is handling the challenging water hazards at Tanilba in great style she seems to be attracted to a certain part of a bees anatomy though ... Lynda also won the Putting with 28 Putts. Runner Up was Dot Hissey with a Nett 77 and Dot is hitting her straps ready for the big Events. 3rd and 4th Placegetters were Chris Osborne on a countback with a Nett 78 and Jess Oshailee also finishing on Nett 78. Sadly, no prizes for the girls, however, June did score a baseball cap in the raffle. This coming Sunday and Monday, 2 x Tanilba gals have entered in the Aging Disgracefully and Teapot Challenge at the Vintage Golf Club. We wish the girls good luck in this fun 2 x Person Ambrose Event. Just putting it out there to the Tanilba fillies to have a think about playing Pennants this year. 18.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 28 November, 2019 - We had a good roll up for our last official competition for 2019. But it was the Team of Meryl Nolan and Veronica Williams who handed in a great combined score of 44 Points. Both Meryl and FiFi have been playing some amazing golf towards the end of the year. So it was great to see them win Beth Magicks trophy, who w...as todays trophy donor. Many thanks, Beth. Todays photo is of Meryl and Veronica looking happy with their trophy. Also, Ive posted a photo of a pretty flower which is the first bloom on the canopy between the 5th and 6th Holes. Its taken 3 years to flower. Many thanks to Ron Ewes who created this masterpiece. Next week, we have the final game for the year. As we are having a Christmas/Presentation lunch this year, we thought a 9 x hole novelty event 3 x Clubs only. That will test the Fillies skills. Until next week, happy golfing. Karen Wallis.

17.01.2022 Just putting it out there ... especially for my friend, Judy Lennon.

17.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 13 February, 2020 The weather put a damper on the morning and the decision made to abandon play. Lucy Colecliffe, however, braved the squally conditions head on and played a Round what a legend !! We held our first Monthly Meeting this date and the major topic of discussion was updating our Constitution. We are in the final stages of implementing this document and an Extra Ordinary Meeting will be held to endorse the final draft. All lady members will be advised as to the date of this Meeting. In the meantime, Im hopeful the weather will be kind for next weeks Stableford event. Until then, happy golfing. Karen Wallis.

16.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 20 August, 2020 A clear but a cold windy day on the course which made it difficult for the players. Todays Event was the Edwards Family Trophy Stableford Round. Division 1 Winner was Lynda McDougall with an impressive 36 Points the windy conditions did not hamper her style and her fancy head attire was equally impressive. Runner up was Miss Consistent, Robin McClelland, also with 36 Points who continues to hand in these amazing cards on a week...ly basis. 3rd Placegetter was Dot Hissey with 33 Points and her partner in crime, Jess Oshailee was 4th Placegetter with 30 Points. Well done girls. Division 2 Winner was Sandy Hunkin with 34 Points a great result from Sandy who has been on the fringes of getting the top prize for a while now well deserved win, Sandy. Runner Up was June Hamilton with 31 Points a good result as June has been suffering the lurgy for a few weeks. 3rd Placegetter was Helen Horton with 30 Points and 4th Placegetter was Jayne Berriman also with 30 Points. So it was a very consistent day for our Fillies. I think Helen Horton won the Meat Raffle. Next week was supposed to be our Annual Open Day but not to be - due to the COVID-19. So instead, we have decided on a Novelty Event that our Captain, Beth Magick will reveal to one and all next week. Some of the gals are bringing a plate for an after game feast as there will be some hungry mouths to feed. Hope the weather improves between now and then. Today photos are of our winners, Lynda and Sandy we will do it all again next week, until then, happy golfing, Karen Wallis.

14.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 5 March, 2020 The weather did not make it easy for the Fillies for Round 1 of the Monthly Medal which is a Stroke Round and Putting Competition. Play was abandoned after the Front 9 and the general consensus was to call it a day - only 9 x Holes played. A Presentation did take place though with Jess Oshailee playing a near perfect 9 x Holes with a Nett 34 and taking out the Nearest the Pin on the 7th Hole. I know Meryl would have been pleased with that score. Balls went to... June Hamilton with 31 points, Cathy Kleinmeulman with 30 Points, Sandy Hunkin with 29 points and Jayne Berriman with 28 points. Well played to all the fillies who were keen to swing their clubs after last weeks washout. Nearest the Pin 4th Hole: Meryl Nolan; 11th & 18th Holes: Chris Osborne. Lucy won the Meat Raffle. 10.01.2022 A double dose of Golfy news this week.

08.01.2022 Another Golfy Post ...

07.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 25 June, 2020 Round 2 of our Foursomes was completed and the fillies were once again very competitive. Mother Nature turned on a beautiful day for the girls. Winners on the day were the Team of Dot Hissey and Jess Oshailee who handed in a grand card of an almost perfect round of golf with a Nett 74. Dot and Jess are a strong team and compliment each other in these team events. Its the short game that makes all the difference. Well played ladies. ...Runners Up were Lynda McDougall and Cathy Kleinmeulman playing a very tidy game with a Nett 78. The gals have been playing very consistently and that is a key element in playing Foursomes. Congratulations girls. 3rd Placegetters were Sue Armstrong and Karen Wallis with a Nett 81 who tried hard and Sue playing some very risque shots (at my request) and played above expectations. 4th Placegetters were Chris Osborne and Jayne Berriman with a Nett 82, who didnt quite play as well as the previous week but never gave up and kept chipping away until the final hole. All the players enjoyed the competition and now we need to keep our thinking caps on as the Club Championships start on Thursday. Good luck to all the girls and lets hope this iffy weather stays on track over the next 3 weeks. Todays photo is of Dot and Jess receiving their trophies which was donated this week by June Hamilton. Until next week, happy golfing. Karen Wallis.

04.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 14 May, 2020 The stormy weather was not kind to the ladies today. The clouds rolled in ... and down she came. As a result, the conditions were too much and we completed the mornings play after 9 x Holes. Considering the weather, we had 14 players and 2 Divisions for a Stableford Round. Division 2 Our overall Winner was Jayne Berriman who must enjoy playing in wet conditions and chalked up 18 points. Runner up on a count back was Meryl Nolan with... 15 points from Margaret Street also on 15 points. 4th Placegetter was Cathy Kleinmeulman with 12 points. An outstanding performance by all these players. Division 1 Winner was Veronica Williams with 12 points. Great to see Veronica back with the Tanilba Fillies. Runner up was Karen Wallis with 12 points. 3rd and 4th Placegetters were June Hamilton and Jess Oshailee both with 11 Points. We are back with 4 players in a group and hopefully once further restrictions ease, we may be able to contest the Nearest the Pins sooner rather than later. Next week will be another Stableford Round. As we are holding our Monthly Meeting this coming Thursday, we will be announcing the revised dates for holding our Championships and Foursome Events. Todays photo is of Dot Hissey and Jayne Berriman which was taken in June last year. Until next week, stay safe and happy golfing, Karen Wallis.

04.01.2022 Golfy Report Thursday, 2 July, 2020 Another cracker day on the golf course and the girls were fired up for the 1st Round of the Championships. 2 Divisions today with 17 players. Division 2 The overall winner was Robin McClelland who played an incredible Round with a Nett 75. She must have had an extra wit bix this morning well done and many thanks to Beth Magick who was this weeks Trophy Donor. Runner up was Veronica Williams who notched up a Nett 79 and it was gre...at to see Vee out playing her usual consistent game. 3rd Placegetter was Jayne Berriman with a Nett 82 and yes ... a great Round by Jayne today. 4th Placegetter was Cathy Kleinmeulman with a Nett 84 I think her sinus issue is resolved and has bounced back in true form. Division 1 Winner was Dot Hissey with a very pleasing result of Nett 76. Another consistent Round for Dot who is looking in great shape must be those salads that Jess is making for her. Runner Up was Lynda McDougall with a Nett 81. The bunker on the 8th did her no favours but she will give this competition a big shake. 3rd Placegetter was Jenny Bailey with a Nett 82 and I know Jenny has been practicing her short game and she did it loud and proud today. 4th Placegetter was Chris Osborne with a Nett 85 and Chris will give it her all over the next 2 weeks. With the easing of restrictions due to the COVID-19, players are allowed 2 to a billy cart and our Nearest the Pin competition will return next week for Round 2 of the Championships. Todays photo is of Dot receiving her Runner up prize as our overall winner, Robin is a little camera shy. Until next week, happy golfing. Karen Wallis.

04.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 6 February, 2020 Well, the start of Ladies Day for 2020 was quite pleasant as it was overcast with a huge drop in the temperature which suited all the Fillies. We had 13 players on the day and we played a 9 x hole stableford to kick off the season. Winner on the day was Karen Wallis with 20 points. Hot on her heels was Runner Up, Cathy Kleinmeulman who was well on target with a great score of 18 points. Close behind Cathy was Robin McClelland with... a very respectable 17 points and June Hamilton played a strong game with 14 points. In fact, all the Fillies played well considering it was their first game for 2020. Nearest the Pin: 4th Hole Sandy Hunkin who played a great approach chip onto the green. 7th Hole Meryl Nolan who also played a perfect chip close to the pin. The much sought after Raffle prize went to Margaret Street. Well played gals. It was great to see Dot Hissey back on deck. Dot had a little tumble whilst on holidays before Christmas and broke a rib and her ring finger. I think she struggled a little but hopefully a few more weeks of rest should do the trick. A very happy birthday to Chris Osborne (28 January) and June Hamilton (6 February) hope you both enjoyed your special day. The Vintage Golf Club Aging Disgracefully and the Teapot Challenge 2nd & 3rd February Tanilba had 2 representatives Sue Armstrong and myself for this Annual Novelty Event. The first Event Ageing Disgracefully was a 9 Hole 1 x Person Ambrose in other words the player had 2 balls to hit and then choosing the best ball until the hole is complete. Sue was the Runner Up in her Division with a Nett 45. Sue and I teamed up the following day for a 2 x Person Ambrose the Teapot Challenge. We were on the Eagles Team (red shirts) - v - the Birdies (white shirts) - no Team prizes for us, but overall, the Eagles won the Challenge and each player receiving a bottle of wine. Many thanks to all involved at the Vintage. Next weeks game is another Stableford followed by our first Monthly Meeting for 2020. Todays photos are of Sue receiving her runner up prize at the Vintage, and a group photo of the Tillie Fillies before Thursdays game. Until next week, happy golfing - Karen Wallis.

04.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 30 April, 2020 My apologies for my incorrect Content from last weeks report. We did not play a stroke round, but a Stableford Event today. Once again, we had 15 players who took a chance on the dodgy weather conditions the radar showed some iffy storm activity but I reckon most of the gals finished reasonably unscathed. Regardless of the weather, the girls stormed home and handed in some of the best stableford scores I have seen for a Thursday... ladies event. Must have been our visitors from Pacific Dunes motivating the Tilly Fillies. Division 2 Our wonderful June Hamilton has played back to back wins and even bettered her score from last week with an outstanding performance of 41 points. I really need to know her secret to such consistency. She didnt wipe a hole today - congratulations, June. Thank you, Jayne Berriman who was this weeks trophy donor. Runner Up was Janelle Hurley from Pacific Dunes with a highly commendable 36 points. Hot on her tail was her club mate, Nicole Lindner with 35 points. Our very own Jayne Berriman came in with a very handy score of 31 points. Division 1 Winner was Karen Wallis with 38 points. Runner up was Jess Oshailee with 37 points. Jess is really hitting her straps and handing in some dazzling cards. 3rd Placegetter was Ruth Wallace from the Dunes who played a consistent game with 34 points and right on her heels was Helen Venner with 33 points well played Helen. Congratulations to all the ladies for your display of great golf. As with last week, there were no Nearest the Pin or Raffle prizes. Next week, with have Round 3 of the Monthly Medal. Todays photo is of June looking in fine form look at that swing this girl is on fire !! Until next week, happy golfing and stay safe, everyone. Karen Wallis.

03.01.2022 Golfy News Saturday, 25 January, 2020 Just touching base to wish our readers a Happy New Year. The Fillies have had a well earned rest and are getting that itch to swing the clubs in 2020. Over the holiday period, nine (9) of the Tanilba gals participated in a golf clinic run by Tim Ireland. The first of three (3) clinics was held on Thursday, 9th January with Tim focusing on the all important grip and swing. Tim had his hands full with balls heading in all directio...ns - the benefits were evident as it was all smiles at the completion of the lesson. We look forward to the next clinic which will be held on Thursday, 6 February after our first game back for 2020 for an 8.00 a.m start. This is only a 9 x Hole Stableford Round so the clinic will be held approximately 11.00 11.30 am. Tim will be concentrating on our short game chipping that will be interesting. On Monday, 27th January, we have 3 x representatives heading over to Kurri Golf Club for a special event a Bushfire Appeal with $10.00 from each player being donated to the NSWRFS. A great cause towards our heros who have been fighting fires for over 2 months. I wish the girls good luck on Monday. I will post another Report next week to remind everyone that the Thursday Ladies will be starting up soon. Have a great week, Karen Wallis.

Division 2 Winner was Meryl Nolan with 37 Stableford points I reckon she was a woman with a mission today and kept her cool to take out the trophy. Runner up and very close behind Meryl was Jayne Berriman with 36 Stableford Points as always, Jayne plays a consistent game and drives, and chips and putts well played Jayne. 3rd Placegetter was Sandy Hunkin with 34 Stableford points a great effort from Sandy who can be a little hot and cold but she sizzled today. 4rd Placegetter was Cathy Kleinmeulman with 33 Stableford Points and who continues to figure in the prizes each week. 02.01.2022 Golfy News Thursday, 21 May, 2020 Well, Mother Nature rained on our parade ... again. As with last week, the conditions were ... well ... bloody awful. Constant drizzle and I left my towel, phone and my drink bottle at home !! I had to scrounge in the lost property barrel to find a towel and that was bloody awful as well. But the girls stood tall for 9 x Holes and here are the results just 11 brave Fillies today, but the scores were very close indeed. Winner of the... day was the trim, taut and terrific Jess Oshailee on a count back with 16 points. The lass is really finding some great form of late. The Tanilba Bay Golf Course remains open at this time - to players who would like to play, however, steps need to be taken to practice the social distancing protocol. Gatherings of more than 10 will not be allowed. Please adhere to this guideline. The Clubhouse is closed and you will be asked not to hang around after finishing t...he game. On a good note, considering what has taken place over the last 2 weeks - we did manage to sneak in 1 x Pennants game. 1st Pennants Game on Monday, 16 March, 2020 at Toronto Division 4 The Team of Amanda Patterson, Karen Wallis, Jenny Bailey and Jess Oshailee notched up a Team win for the first game of the competition against Maitland. Due to some heavy rains the previous evening, the conditions were heavy underfoot. The girls struggled throughout, but we managed 3 x wins. Division 5 The Team of Dot Hissey, Chris Osborne, Veronica Williams, Jayne Berriman and June Hamilton also struggled against a determined Nelson Bay team and with all the games in the balance, June who played a great game managed 1 win for the team. Since that game, the NHDLGA and many other sporting Associations in Australia and around the globe have made the decision to carry out a mandatory lockdown of sporting events. As Tanilba Bay Golf Club remains open, feel free to enjoy a game there. Anthony and his staff are more than happy to look after you. Ive thrown in a photo of a challenging bunker. I dont know where this photo was taken, but Im pleased Tanilba does not have anything like that. Stay safe dear friends. Karen Wallis.
