11.01.2022 Hi All, Please see below the statement from Tennis Qld. - - -... Tennis Qld Statement to temporarily cease all tennis activity across Queensland 27 March 2020 Firstly, we hope this email finds you safe and healthy. In these uncertain times, that is our biggest concern. With the continued escalation of the COVID-19 crisis and in consultation with the tennis community and the Government at each level, the Tennis Queensland Board of Directors has come to the decision that we need to act in the best interest of community health and safety by applying the following recommendations. Tennis Qld strongly recommends that all tennis activities cease from midnight Saturday 28 March 2020 across the state of Queensland. This includes: All tennis clubs, venues, academies and centres cease operations until further notice All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one-on-one coaching, until further notice All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice All public court hire bookings cease until further notice This has been an extremely difficult decision to make, and we know it will be equally difficult for our clubs and coaches. However, we feel that it is a time to put lives before livelihoods and therefore, for the time being, we recommend that all tennis activity cease in Queensland. Tennis Queensland staff are working remotely to continue to support you through this challenging period. Please note: Advice, information and resources to support our clubs are available through our team and on the Tennis Queensland website. For coaching operators, advice is available on the Tennis Australia website in relation to the relevant Government grants and support you can access to assist you and your business. Recommendations to temporarily cease tennis activity also now exist in many of Australia's states and territories. Due to infection rates of this virus varying substantially, Tennis Australia will continue to work with the State and Territory tennis bodies to ensure compliance with the different Federal and State or Territory government recommendations. The Tennis Qld Board intends to review this position formally on 20 April 2020. We will meet regularly to explore all appropriate options for resuming tennis when Government and/or health authorities deem it safe to do so. This pandemic and these exceptional circumstances will pass and we want to work with our partners to ensure tennis is back bigger and better than ever. This is a challenging time for everyone, please stay home and stay safe.
