25.01.2022 As we embark on a whole new way of life, one thing that doesn't need to change is the ongoing support provided for your child with the help of the Telehealth in conjunction with the Zoom software in the comfort of your own home. Easy to install, easy to use and the kids will get a kick out of seeing themselves and their therapist on the screen. The clinic is now in full swing and ready to assist where possible. Please be reminded that face to face sessions are still running in the clinic with strict guidelines in place in regards to social distancing. If you have any questions or concerns at all in regards to your child's sessions please call the office on 0407554070.

22.01.2022 As we reach the end of 2019 and reflect on our year, I realise that many of us would have tried new experiences, worked hard, strengthened bonds, formed new and everlasting friendships, made mistakes, made amends, put others before us, tried to stay true to ourselves, attained goals, said goodbye, learnt new lessons, tried to let go and laughed and cried both tears of happiness and sadness for ourselves and others. I personally would like to take a moment to thank our wonder...ful clients, colleagues, staff members and support networks for their support and commitment to us and our work at TBSP. Throughout the year I’ve been exposed to words like acts of kindness, compassion, strength, care and resilience in my reading and in my conversations with people around me. These are certainly very challenging qualities to maintain and demonstrate in times of stress, uncertainty and when we are facing hard times. We however are lucky enough to witness these traits in the children, families and professionals we work with everyday, despite the challenges they are facing and it is for this reason that we have passion in the work we do and the drive to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children we work with. May your Christmas be blessed with the warmth and love of family and friends. We look forward to continuing work with you in 2020. Love Tanya and the team at TBSP. Xx

19.01.2022 Tanya’s quote of the month - Communication skills may take a lifetime to masterif indeed anyone can ever claim to have mastered them. There are, however, many things that you can do fairly easily to improve your communication skills and ensure that you are able to transmit and receive information effectively

18.01.2022 In a time of uncertainty and confusion I chose this affirmation card to use with my children today to enable them to turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts and build their confidence. I think we can all take something from this today... x

07.01.2022 To our TBSP Families and Friends, Apologies, however an error occurred with our previous post... lets try again shall we. PLEASE SHARE:... Who would have thought we would be posting about a pandemic and a subsequent response plan. Well here we go! Please familiarise yourself with it. It details our policy moving forward in case things worsen. It is for full transparency for you and your children and for us as therapists. We will all have to be flexible during this time. In addition to our usual hygiene practices we also require you to assist in the following to remove difficulties with the 1.5m social distancing required with others: - Parents or carers to attend the clinic without additional siblings where possible. - If you usually don’t sit in on your child’s session, we ask that you consider going for a walk or a grab a coffee so to reduce the foot traffic and social distancing required in the waiting room. - Toys have been removed from the waiting room for obvious purposes. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to ask via direct message where we will respond accordingly. We are also in the process of setting up and making available to our parents and children the possibility of conducting online video sessions in place of face to face therapy sessions that we can conduct from the comfort of your own home. Some details are available in the attached Response Plan. More details to follow.

06.01.2022 Tanya’s quote of the month (quite relevant and important during this time of uncertainty) - Learning is a result of listening, which in turn leads to even better listening and attentiveness to the other person. In other words, to learn from the child, we must have empathy, and empathy grows as we learn.

06.01.2022 Tanya’s quote of the week is back - The two words 'information' and 'communication' are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through.

05.01.2022 Tanya’s quote of the day - Seven things every child needs to hear: I love you, I’m proud of you, I’m sorry, I forgive you, I’m listening. This is your responsibility. You have what it takes to succeed.

03.01.2022 Tanya’s quote of the month - ‘Teach your kids that being the smartest or the coolest or some other -est will only take them so far. But being kind and generous and going out of their way to help others will matter literally in every aspect of their lives for as long as they live!’

01.01.2022 In August my family and I had the exciting experience of visiting a primary school in Fiji. The staff and students were very welcoming and very excited to meet us. They were keen to share their classroom and learning with us. What I love about these experiences is the realisation that speech, language and learning is so significant wherever we go and regardless of the language we speak! Xx
