25.01.2022 High numbers aren’t they. So maybe you feel you are the only one, but you are not alone. Please open the lines of communication, and be honest as your true feelings matter #tellsomeonewhocares #icare #parentingsupport #morethanlactation

25.01.2022 I hope you have all had a lovely family day XI hope you have all had a lovely family day X

23.01.2022 If you put a group of mums breastfeeding in one room, you would be able to pick out the ones Ive seen and guided their positioning. The mums are sitting comfortably, and babies in various positions but they would all be supporting their babies between the shoulder blades, no hands on the babies head and always have a free hand if they need to use it! This mum breastfed and persisted with the help of a feeding supply line for almost 4 months, but now 8 months old hes feeding like a champ, no supply line required! Awesome success story this mum should be feeling super proud #breastfeedingjourneys #breastfeedingsupport #lactationconsultant

It was great to see mum breastfeeding whilst her little one had part of his treatment too. 17.01.2022 Does anyone have breast pump in the cupboard they no longer use? Want to donate it to Thrive? I’ll take it! I was kindly given a Dual pump and honestly (thankyou to the donator!!) it’s been so good to have available for mums to lend. This week It would’ve been great to have another one. Let me know if you do I’m happy to pick it up!

17.01.2022 This is a great video demonstrating a newborn cup feeding. Im think for a newborn having small quantities its a great option. For those babies that wont suck, and are a little sleepy - but they still need to be awake to cup feed.

17.01.2022 Baby wrap demo. There is no right or wrong way to wrap your baby. The key is to have the top half firmly wrapped so they feel secure- and so their newborn startle reflex is contained. Loose around the Legs, so hips should be free to move. Red nose recommends arms free once this startle reflex disappears around 3 months, and when they are beginning to show signs of rolling around 4-6 months. Some babies are Houdinis and prefer their arms out which is fine too. Unwrapped to breastfeed! #babywrap #swaddling #secure #newborn

14.01.2022 That’s me the nurse, ready to listen to all your thoughts that you are open to share. I often hear the truths behind what may seem so perfect to others. Tell someone who cares they say, sometimes that’s not so easy but please when given an opportunity share your thoughts and open the lines of communication #peopledocare #tellsomeonewhocares #postnataldepressionandanxietyisreal #pandaweek2020

13.01.2022 Antenatal expressing only following discussion with your pregnancy care provider from 36 weeks learning to hand express before the baby comes is one less thing to learn when your baby arrives volumes are variable between individuals, so no point comparing! practice twice a day for 5-10 mins - three times a day if you wish! If You know me, I don’t watch the clock! ... maybe a glisten, a drop or make the markers on the syringe- don’t worry it has no relevance to your actual supply after the birth- it’s all regulated by hormones! collect it, date it and pop it in the freezer liquid gold if you have it, if you need it in those first few days whilst your baby busily feeds at the breast helping your milk come in! the goal- NO infant formula required Most hospitals will provide the syringes for antenatal expressing, but if not @milkco_australia has these great packs, and high you can continue to use after the birth! And any unused syringes pass on to your expecting friends! Contact your local Lactation Consultant for a catch up BEFORE the birth! So much to be learnt #lactationconsultant #antenatalexpressing #pregnancy See more

12.01.2022 Sometimes mums cant always see exactly what the baby is doing with the sucking pattern, so thats when i say listen instead. You can often hear the swallows. Heres the perfect example! #breastfeeding #suckingswallowing #watchandlisten #lactationconsultant

09.01.2022 I love when Ive done a few visits to the same mum, as we get to explore different positions for feeding. With a tender breast, and a tired mum, it was the perfect opportunity to get back in to bed and try the side lying position. It was perfect! And now this is what the mum would like to share... I now love lying down when I can get into the right position :).....I would say my breastfeeding journey has definitely had its hiccups, but when its going well I absolutely love it and love watching my baby enjoying his feed. It makes it all worth it This mum is having a tricky time right now with a sore breast, so lets hope shes feeling better soon #breastfeedingjourneys #trynewfeedingpositions #supportandguidance #lactationconsultant

09.01.2022 Look at these 2 beautiful girls. Mum shares milk drunk on their feeding pillow. It took time and patience to build their feeding as they were 12 weeks early. We had 17 happy months feeding together Time and patience are often the key to success! This mum should feel super proud! #breastfedtwins #tandemfeeding #breastfeeding #twins

08.01.2022 Watch the video on this page with Dr Lisa Amir- My advice - have a LC watch your baby feed before committing to any procedure related to ties. Correct positioning is key before or after the release

06.01.2022 ABA chat online with a Breastfeeding counsellor Monday - Friday 8-10pm

06.01.2022 Pumping - a conversation I have with most of the mums I visit. Why the pump? Some reasons include need to increase supply -for multiple reasons body may not be producing enough for your baby need to collect extra expressed breast milk for topups or replacement feeds to soften or relieve a full breast exclusively offering bottles of breastmilk. So what do I recommend? Firstly a Dual Pump is ideal- time efficient, and one side stimulates the other exp...ress after the breastfeed- wait 20-30 mins so they’ve had some time to refill a bit ( after as many feeds as you can) 10-15 mins should be enough or power pump is a good option with a dual pump -1hour of pumping mimics a cluster feed. Good to do maybe early morning or late evening (20 min pump/10 min rest/10 Pump/10 rest/10 pump) I’m all@about keeping whatever you are doing sustainable, want to stop all the pumping - then peel back the layers a bit! And speak with a Lactation Consultant to learn more See more

06.01.2022 A drawer full of expressed breastmilk What a great effort from a dedicated mumma. Sometimes a choice is made for various reasons to offer breastmilk from a bottle instead. And that is absolutely ok! Whatever works for the little team involved is best Did you exclusively express?

05.01.2022 I can do consults via Zoom but I definitely prefer face to face, in your home if I can. This way we can work with what you have, to make you more comfortable. We can determine the most suitable chairs to sit in, the pillows that work best to support you and you can show me any equipment you may be using. And usually as feeding and sleeping are so entwined we can discuss your babies safe sleep space. Covid precautions in place, important for everyones health. 03.01.2022 Reintroducing myself for the newcomers!

03.01.2022 Beautiful memories of breastfeeding captured in these photos. It has taken practice, patience and determination. And at 5 weeks old, my little boy is feeding like a champ. We could not have done this without Tanyas support". 02.01.2022 Milk Mate Breast Lactation Massager My new little device I can lend out to mums I visit, in an emergency, who have lumpy boobs! To avoid milk lumps it’s most important to maximise a deep latch, with positioning of mum and bub, so the baby is able to drain the breast well. Getting to the back end of the milk in the breast is key. ... Sometimes gentle massage helps shift the milk too. This neat rechargeable, waterproof device may assist. I have a few to sell $65, pick up Wandana Heights Message me if you think you need it in your tool box!
