I am f****** happy to pick fruit.... 1) The jobs still really aren't there. 2) Who will pay my rent while I'm out on a farm? Or pay to break my lease and store my stuff? 3) Where do I live when doing this? (And is it safe?) And how much of my wage is taken for it? 4) After the six week season is over, where do I go? 5) Am I given assistance to relocate to a new regional town and season? Or given help to pay a bond back home? 6) Do I try and trade in my 2011 hatchback for a 20 year old van I could sleep in the back of? And keep all my possessions in? 7) These aren't rhetorical questions. The job market is what it is. And it's f****** scary and stressful. We're not unwilling to work. Just. How? 8) And this all assumes we're chill with taking vulnerable people away from their homes, community, and healthcare, to go work on isolated farms with little protection from exploitation and abuse. 9) but, HOMES, COMMUNITY, and HEALTHCARE. That's what you're asking someone to leave to pick fruit for six weeks. The safety and security of homes (HOME), support networks, and access to health care. 10) Oh, you're poor (and there are no jobs!), but you take solace in the love of a pet and some regular family friend dinners? NO MORE. Out to the farm you go and leave behind ... everything that makes this bearable. 11) Our agricultural industry has been run on slave labour from the start. 09.01.2022 I was lucky enough to spend this morning in Springwood with community members, FBEU members, journos, out front of a fire station that’s about to lose a bushfir...e tanker. People in the Blue Mountains know what fires are like and how important it is to have resources to hand. No one here can understand why the Blue Mountains of all places should lose a truck; they want every community to have what they need during fires, including theirs. The government should fund trucks wherever they are needed, not rob Peter to pay Paul and move trucks around. Retained and permanent members came to share their stories and talk about why we need to be properly funded. Thanks to all the local members who came along and Trish Doyle MP for speaking about why communities deserve better.

06.01.2022 BREAKING: The Industrial Relations Commission has handed down its decision to award you a wage increase of 0.3% over 2020-2021, backdated to 1 July 2020. This ...decision is an insult to nurses and midwives. After relying on nurses and midwives so much through COVID-19, it’s clear the Berejiklian Government does not value the important work you do. We won't take this lying down. We will continue to campaign for better wages and conditions, so this Government has no choice but to deliver on safe staffing. Bromhead in a Community consultation today at Green Point skirted around answering the question but admitted ‘he has no money! For all the information go to: Hi far.health.nsw.gov.au... And click on Search projects This is a huge broken promise by Bromhead. Country Labor can build on an attack campaign to highlight all his broken promises. This will be a huge disappointment to his constituents.
