24.01.2022 It is with profound sadness that I advise the passing of 3rd Officer Michael Petterwood on Wednesday 25/09/2019. Michael has been a highly respected member of t...he Risdon Vale Volunteer Fire Brigade since May 2000. Michael was made a Life Member in 2014 and recipient of both the National Medal for Service (2014) and Tasmania Fire Service Volunteer Medal for Diligent Service with Integrity (2017). Michael was known for his passion for the TFS and also a kind man who was there to assist anyone anytime. He will be sadly missed by all members of the Brigade and Hobart District and will be remembered fondly for being a highly committed community minded person who had very high personal values. On behalf of all Members, past and present, I Offer our sincere condolences to Anne, Mark and Scott, family and friends. Wade Stewart 1st Officer Risdon Vale Volunteer Fire Brigade

The Geeveston Fire Brigade has put a Honour Board together with all those that assisted throughout the fires, it shows the true extent of how many brigades and other agencies were involved in this effort. Well done to all today and at the fires

The events will be family friendly and include children’s activities, live music and entertainment suitable for all ages. 06.01.2022 Does anyone know of a burn taking place at the northern end of Taroona yesterday? There was a strong smell of smoke at one point. There's also a lingering smell this morning. Given the forecast for the day, we're keen to make sure it's been extinguished.

Thank you to all the members that were on standby today and those that were in a support role. Thank you too to the Taroona Bowls Club for your gift. It was much appreciated and will be consumed at a later date. We have crews on stand by over the next few days. It is likely they will be assisting with some of the going fires. Please, make sure you follow this page if you are interested in where we end up.
