08.01.2022 Ok gang, here’s my first tip for 2020. It’s a long one and very region-specific but I’ll get back to normal this week I promise As you may know, part of the r...egion I live in has been - and in parts - still is living through some unimaginable stuff. The country and the world’s heart is breaking. I know the danger is not over and we still have months of summer left but I want to say something to the businesses that are not under direct threat. Here’s a couple of little facts: 1. More of the brain’s neurons are dedicated to sight than the other four senses combined. 2. Our brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text. What’s my point? If your business and the region you are in is not affected by the fires directly then you should not be reposting harrowing images of fires or fire maps or burned buildings and animals. You are adding to the existing confusion that Gippsland is on fire. A large part of it is, but a larger part is not. Please consider archiving these images, keeping them to your personal accounts and instead sending a very strong message that you are open. There are people and businesses in East Gippsland that, when ready, are going to need our collective help to drive tourism and trade back there. We must take on the responsibility of driving tourism and commerce back to the rest of Gippsland now. Now is critical. Now is when families book next year’s summer holiday. Now is only 3 weeks till school goes back. Now is when Australia is full of tourists looking for sandy beaches, gorgeous views and memorable food and wine experiences. We have ALL that in Gippsland and a lot of it is hundreds of kilometres from the fires. I’ve said it before and I know I’ll say it again - we all have a role to play in tourism for our towns, our region and our country. If you are not in the affected area, consider using your personal accounts to express your emotions. If you are fundraising, you can use images of hope and restoration. Despite the horror there are incredible stories of courage and community. I want to take this opportunity to point out @origamicoffeemallacoota who are doing a fantastic job on Instagram, keeping it so positive despite what we all saw they went through. I am looking forward to telling them that in person as soon we can get down there. Our neighbours east of us will need our region to be strong. When they are ready and the state of emergency is lifted, please be good neighbours and share the news. For now, please let people know that you are open and keep letting people know. In our hearts it’s not business as usual but yeah I’m gonna do it...I’m gonna use my favourite quote a rising tide lifts all boats. Erika Pic @stacieswift

08.01.2022 Wilsons Prom is NOT effected or at all threatened by the East Gippsland fires. We have unfortunately had a lot of people cancelling their bookings with us due t...o the fires. The fires are 2.5 hours drive away from Yanakie. We have been effected from other parts of our business in East Gippsland and we currently have fire burning on and around our property in the high country. Our thoughts are with everyone effected by the fires around our country. But this is not in anyway effecting our set ups in Yanakie, so why not book a getaway today to the prom coast!

06.01.2022 Don't miss this great event.
