25.01.2022 It might look like they're sniffing a brick, but these guys are actually tucking into what's called a 'lick block'. It's basically a giant multivitamin lollipop! Lots of great natural minerals such as copper, selenium and iron for them to lick and nibble on. Why? Just as you might take a multivitamin, we like to offer these to our cattle to ensure they're getting everything that their body needs

25.01.2022 The hills are alive....with leafy turnip and tillage radish!! We have 15 different plant species in this particular salad bowl paddock. Our cattle have enjoyed munching on this one a few times, but now it's time to let it rest and go to seed, which means we should see these plants regrow on their own next year, with no need to sow again #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

25.01.2022 Great to support Launceston Grammar and their Cultivate Programme!

25.01.2022 Everyone is getting their hands and paws dirty around here at the moment! We had a great Autumn, but a very wet and muddy one. One month into Winter and weve gotten bogged more times than we can count! More rain on the way tonight. This is our boy Oxley in the thick of it. He loves long walks around the farm, chasing cows when he shouldnt, and just in general, pretending hes in charge around here when he has absolutely no idea how to be useful. But boy do we love him!

25.01.2022 "Taking time (14 seconds) to smell the roses and enjoy the still evening on my way back to HQ. So lucky to live amongst these beautiful scenes (most days)" #Repost @sam_trethewey

24.01.2022 Red on the outside. Green on the inside We get lots of questions about our Wagyu genetics. More specifically, these guys...our bulls. Theyre different. Theyre Red Wagyu, not black, which is quite rare. They grow better on grass as opposed to a grain-based diet. This is key as our cattle are grass fed and grass finished. Theyre a beautiful breed to work with, and very chilled out most of the time! ... #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

23.01.2022 What a home for them, and for us This view never gets old. Grass and happy cattle as far as the eye can see. Tassie, you are magnificent. #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

23.01.2022 That feeling when the frosty mornings are long gone, and our little farm helper no longer needs to wear a beanie when moving cattle Spring is off to a flying start around here! And our family is loving the extra time we get to spend outside in the evenings thanks to daylight savings!

22.01.2022 Here's a closer look at one of our latest salad bowl mixes! (aka our multispecies crop) There are 14 different plant species in this custom mix including peas, oats, chicory, and vetch. They'll help us sequester carbon dioxide, improve our soil health and stimulate microbiology, plus be a delicious and nutritious food source for our cattle. Because who doesn't love or need some diversity in their diet!

22.01.2022 Weekends are for work... but at least we do it together Time to check, move and feed cattle! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

22.01.2022 Thanks to MaiaGrazing for inviting Steph to be part of their #regenerativeagriculture panel next week. Details are below if you're keen to register and tune in!

22.01.2022 These guys. We love seeing them! Doing a worm count sounds silly, but we do them for a reason across our farm. They're are a crucial sign of soil health and play an important role. They increase nutrient availability, provide better drainage, and more stable soil structure. Healthy soils which are free from chemicals like pesticides and are farmed regeneratively are bursting with more microbiology, and more life!

22.01.2022 Wow. Our little family sure is in the thick of it now! Were under the pump, flat out and just keeping our heads above water as the workload and demands of launching a new food business ramp up. But if it was easy, everyone would do it right! And the two of us have certainly never taken the easy route or done things by halves Weve taken on another property, were managing more cattle, finalising our processing options and getting stuck into our packaging and product rang...e. Make no mistake, this business is a two man show. Sam is working 7 days a week and there is always more to be done. We also have baby number 2 due soon, and our families are in NSW and VIC unable to be here thanks to covid. Its important to keep things real on here. Because behind every startups beautiful social media photos is a story of true grit and grind. And you keep on going #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

21.01.2022 Afternoon food coma! Some happy cattle relaxing, chewing on their cud. Fun fact... cattle have got four stomachs, and in order for their food to move into their second stomach and digest it properly, they need to regurgitate it (delightful) and then re-chew it into tiny little pieces

21.01.2022 Hows that morning fog? Thought we had some bulls missing for a moment Ahh Tassie. Fog, frost, freezing... you name it. But youre always stunning #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

20.01.2022 Spring We've been waiting for you! That bright green growth is finally shooting through, and some very happy cattle are loving it. #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

19.01.2022 We are SO proud to finally announce that Tas Ag Co is the first farm in Tasmania to register a soil carbon project under Australias $2.55 billion Emissions Reductions Fund. What does this mean? Carbon levels across our property have officially been baselined through AgriProve who use the ONLY soil carbon measuring system eligible under the United Nations Paris Agreement. Once our levels are retested in the near future, all carbon credits will count towards Australias emi...ssions reduction target. This is all part of our data-backed regenerative journey. We dont simply purchase carbon credits to offset our operations. Everything we do and all the non-conventional ways we farm, is about rebuilding soil health and sequestering as much carbon dioxide as possible. Regenerative farming is the future of food and it can help reverse climate change. For us, its about creating a beef product and an eating experience that is truly beyond sustainable. See more

19.01.2022 The infamous Roger One day, a few months ago, old Rog simply refused to be moved into a new paddock with the rest of the mob. He took it as far as swimming through a dam to make his point. First time either of us have seen a bull swim. So, hes been flying solo since. Hes happy and healthy, living a life of solitude. We keep trying to reunite him with his mates but he doesnt want a bar of it. We cant force him so here he is, enjoying the best view in the house in his own paddock #isolife

18.01.2022 Lots of time spent doing this together at the moment. Office work. Most farmers hate it, and Sam is no different. But some of the most important work for Tas Ag Co is happening around our dining room table. As we get closer to launching to market, were focusing on tightening up our systems and processes for our entire operation. From when our calves are born, right through to processing. Thanks to our supporters and mentors (you know who you are) who believe in us and are he...lping us work through all this. Its overwhelming...But if it was easy, everyone would do it right?! Bring it on! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

17.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the farming Dads out there, but especially to this one. The hardest worker Ive ever known. Its not easy. The days are long. The work is gruelling. The pressure is mounting. But through it all, you always put a smile on, walk through the door at night covered in mud and cow shit, pick up our little boy and switch into Dad-mode so seamlessly. You are our everything. And this is the backbone of Tas Ag Co. Our little family Happy Fathers Day @sam_t...rethewey! #fathersday #farmdad #farmbaby #farmfamily #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

17.01.2022 Just a casual walk up the driveway of our new farm! Were very excited to announce that Tas Ag Co has expanded! Weve just acquired another property only 5 minutes away from home base, thanks to the support of Corporate Carbon. Through them and AgriProve, were now able to continue to grow our business and regenerative practices, through sequestering carbon and improving environmental health all while growing our beef! While weve got another farm, it doesnt come with an extra worker (because #startuplife ) so it will make for an even more exhausted farmer Sam managing it all. But... worth it!

16.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the farming Dads out there, but especially to this one. The hardest worker I've ever known. It's not easy. The days are long. The work is gruelling. 16.01.2022 Were feeling so grateful for all the support and belief from so many people about our soil carbon project and our overall plans for our brand. But the truth is, the hard work really starts now! What a full on few months/years weve got ahead! Luckily we work so well together as a team. In the meantime, check out last nights 7 News story. Its so great to see regenerative farming starting to get some attention from mainstream media as it deserves! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

15.01.2022 Technology has been a huge enabler for our farm. Its incredible what can be planned and managed in the palm of our hand out in the paddock! Regenerative agriculture is about keeping things simple, listening to Mother Nature and letting her do the hard work. But building real data to track our progress and improvements to our soils, paddocks and animals is critical to our journey as we strive to create a beyond sustainable food experience #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

14.01.2022 Tas Ag Co road trip! Were on our way home after a big day inspecting some of our Autumn calves. Theyre doing really well despite Winter weather arriving a month early! Its been great to do a work trip together, fleshing out some ideas and brainstorming for what will be a huge second half of 2020!

13.01.2022 Big day tomorrow with the arrival of our Autumn season calves. Their first few weeks on our farm are so important. Theyll all go through a two week orientation/induction program to ensure they settle in slowly and calmly to their new environment. Theyll also be integrated into our farm management system where we keep data on all things related to their health, wellbeing and growth #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

13.01.2022 Were really excited to be a part of the AgriWebb Regenerative Agriculture webinar today! Already more than 1500 registrations! If youre interested, check it out! #regenerativeagriculture #tasagco #beyondsustainable

13.01.2022 The perks of having parents obsessed with monitoring and measuring soil health? .... An endless amount of time out at work with us playing in dirt and mud #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

12.01.2022 ONE YEAR! 12 months ago today, the three of us packed up our life in Melbourne, hopped on the boat, took a leap of faith, and made the move to start our new life in Tasmania The past year has flown by in some ways, and dragged on in others. Its been the most joyful time for us, but also the hardest. The work has only really just started, and sometimes we wonder what the hell have we signed up for!? But were working together to build something special that we truly beli...eve in. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we cant really fail, because were here. Failing would have been not making plans, not getting on that ship and continuing to dream and wonder what could have been. Sams loving being back home in Tassie, and Steph cant imagine life anywhere else now. Stay tuned.... Our little familys story has only just begun! See more

12.01.2022 What's your WHY? We're all busy doing something. Working. Hustling. Providing for ourselves and our families. Just over a year ago, Sam and I packed up our lives in Melbourne and swapped it all for a new life in Tassie. Our little family and this business is our 'why'. We believe in producing beyond sustainable food. We believe in reversing the damage done to our soils and our environment. We believe there's a better way... so we're doing it. That's our 'why'.... We both left behind our successful careers in the big smoke to create something ever bigger and better. It's not been easy. But it gives us immense purpose and motivation. So thanks for following our journey so far! And hi to those who are new to Tas Ag Co This is a snippet of where we've been. Stay tuned for more on where we're going! See more

12.01.2022 Bring on Spring! Were only halfway through Winter but its already far too soggy on the farm from a wetter than normal Autumn. And we could still get a third of our annual rainfall in the next 8 weeks *There is such a thing as too much rain for some farmers!* In fact, a big part of our management plans over the next few years is to design the farm to drain water more effectively in times when we get too much. The wet conditions have ruined some of our crops, water logged p...addocks and of course cattle are great at turning soggy pasture into mud by walking through it! BUT check out these oats! Some of our multispecies plants are still thriving despite the tough conditions. Well get there!

12.01.2022 Counting cattle. Thats all shes capable of doing. But what a life #blueheeler

11.01.2022 Were getting a taste of whats ahead for our first full Winter on the farm. We skipped most of last years, arriving in late July. Boy oh boy. Yesterday, the frost didnt lift on parts of the farm until the afternoon. This morning, its still -4 degrees. But, we still wouldnt want to be anywhere else! (Bring on Spring though)

11.01.2022 Just a farmer, stealing some tillage radish from his cattle to take home for his own dinner If it's good enough for us, it's certainly good enough for them! #saladseason

11.01.2022 Spring has sprung in our multispecies crops, aka our salad bowl buffets! Some beautiful crimson clover has made an appearance. It's a legume you don't see very often, but they're high in protein and great at sequestering nitrogen from the atmosphere and putting it back into the soil

10.01.2022 Imagine eating spaghetti bolognese every day, for the rest of your life... Boringggggg! Animals thrive on a diverse diet in the wild, so why should our cattle be any different? Welcome to our SALAD BOWL BUFFET! Our cattle enjoy more than just grass. They munch on our special multispecies crop, and they cant get enough!... These plants are carbon sequestering champions and serve a duel purpose. While the nutritional benefits to our cattle are great, the crop plays a critical role in soil regeneration, which is at the centre of what we do and what we believe in. These plants pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, and store it back in the soil where it belongs. Cattle are key to the process; they enjoy their salad buffet, then get rotated to another paddock to allow the mix to regrow, and then the process begins again! Its beyond sustainable beef. Good for you and the planet. And we cant wait to launch it! #regenerativefood #beyondsustainablebeef #wagyu See more

09.01.2022 Saturday afternoon soil sessions Checking on one of our multispecies crops/salad bowls and seeing how things are tracking beneath the surface. Elliot is more interested in chewing on any tillage raddish he can get his little chubby hands on #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

08.01.2022 Sunday surprise! A little reminder of our Spring sowing efforts. Despite the cold and wet lately, its so good to see some tillage raddish and other salad bowl goodies poking through one of our early multispecies crop! Despite being an annual crop, the raddish has hung on through Spring, Summer, Autumn and into Winter! It using the energy it has stored in its big tap root to keep growing despite the cattle munching the top of it every six weeks! #tasagco #soilcarbon #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

07.01.2022 Greetings from the ice age! It was a very frosty morning on the farm. It plummeted to -3 degrees overnight, and it was white as far as the eye could see well past 9am! Its horrible for grass growth and cattle... but it sure is beautiful

06.01.2022 Spring is in the air, which means love is in the air for our boys Our bulls are preparing to head out for this season's join, where they'll be free to roam around and meet and mingle with some lucky ladies #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

06.01.2022 A beautiful sunset to end a beautiful weekend celebrating Stephs birthday yesterday and Mothers Day today Weve eaten our way through the weekend, supporting some great local cafes like @breadandbuttertasmania & @eatdrinkrelax for some wonderful takeaway. And after getting bogged while moving cattle this morning, we enjoyed some quality time together during a very long, leisurely journey back to the house on foot Happy Sunday!

05.01.2022 PLANT TISSUE TESTING We've just taken samples of clover and ryegrass from several paddocks across our farm. They've been sent to a special lab which will test for any nutrient deficiencies in the plants. It's basically a health check to see what our pastures are getting and not getting from the soil. Once the results are in, we'll apply any natural trace elements and natural minerals that the plants may require to give our grass the growth boost it needs. It's all part of o...ur regenerative farming practices, which is about creating balance between soils, plants and cattle requirements #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

05.01.2022 Regenerative agriculture. We believe its the future of food But like any new movement, theres a lot of misleading information, and in this case, greenwashing, with claims that arent backed by data. Its unfair to those 100% committed to the regenerative cause, but an opportunity for consumers to dig deeper and learn more. Regen ag is a shift in mindset. A move away from conventional farming practices, chemicals, and working with mother nature to improve the soil and seq...uester carbon dioxide. Sam was recently invited on to AgThentics Agtech... So What? podcast with Sarah Nolet. He chats about our practices, our soil carbon project, and the innovative parts of our business model that got us off the ground. 05.01.2022 Our superfood season is over! Our cattle have grazed the last of our Tas Ag Co salad bowl (aka our multispecies crops). Pictured here is a daikon raddish our stock have been loving! Its given them and our soil a big health boost which will help as we head into winter and some very chilly months ahead! Weve planted next seasons crops, but theyll need some more time (and warmer conditions) to grow. Our cattle will be looking forward to munching on them again later in the... year! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativeagriculture

04.01.2022 It was a stunning, foggy morning moving some of our younger cattle. We work using time controlled, rotational grazing. What does that mean? Our farm is divided up carefully into paddocks. We move our cattle daily so they get to munch on the best of the paddock, but are moved to a fresh one before it is devoured too much! Why? Simple. Think of animals in the wild. They are constantly on the move. They dont stay in one place for long. This allows Mother Nature to do her thin...g, giving the pasture a much needed rest to replenish and regrow. Its vital to soil health too. Its the most basic regenerative farming technique we use in addition to sowing multispecies crops (our salad bowl buffets), no synthetic fertilisers, and a heap of other natural goodies we give our soils all while collecting data on how we are tracking See more

04.01.2022 Waiting for Spring We are getting close! In the meantime, Oxley is doing what he does best... not much. But he makes for one handsome mascot! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

03.01.2022 One of those perfect Tassie Spring evenings. And one of our boys just doing his thing, loving life, with the best seat in the house

03.01.2022 Meet Big Red And hows that side eye action! Hes one of our favourite Red Wagyu bulls, weighing a mere 800kg and a real life lover. Hes not had any action lately, but pretty soon hell be back out roaming some paddocks with some lovely ladies, doing what he does best

03.01.2022 It's salad bowl sowing season! A few late nights ahead as Sam heads out to sow our Spring multispecies crops. These are the plants that will go on to feed our cattle throughout Summer and Autumn, plus improve our soil health in the process. Sequestering carbon dioxide is just one of the many amazing things they will do! #regenerativefood

02.01.2022 We've just kicked off irrigation here, much later than last year thanks to a wet start to Spring Irrigating is how we ensure we keep our grass growing through the warmer and drier months, while also keeping the quality of our feed for our cattle as high as possible

02.01.2022 Wow. Our little family sure is in the thick of it now! 02.01.2022 Winter is here! Weve had our first couple of frosts for the season, with the forecast predicting a top of just 1 degree overnight for the next week! Naturally, grass growth will start to slow on the farm, and our cattles feed consumption will go up. So our new feeding regime has started, and our priority is ensuring our livestock are eating as much as possible to stay warm and keep their energy up. A process thats very similar to Sam and Stephs own Winter diet ... #tasagco #winterishere #winterdiet #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativeagriculture

01.01.2022 It was great to catch up with Minister for Agriculture Guy Barnett today, along with the amazing team from Landcare Tasmania. We're thrilled to be working with them on the revegetation of native species across our farm, as well as fencing off waterways from livestock to allow ecosystems to regenerate and thrive. There are so many moving parts to what we're doing as part of our regenerative strategy which focuses on biodiversity and producing beyond sustainable beef. Exciting times! #tasagco #beyondsustainablebeef #regenerativefood

01.01.2022 So, at what age can they finally start opening and closing farm gates? #askingforafriend #ourboy #17monthsold #Elliot
