14.01.2022 'LITTLE MISS MAGIC'' wins TT1!! James & Tara BURMAN from Northbridge Sailing Club showed style, class & that 'little bit of magic', to claim ultimate victory in yesterday's TANSW TRAVELLERS' TROPHY, which was proudly hosted by Georges River 16ft Sailing Club. The Burmans who won both the 50min+ races quite convincingly, were followed in succession (in both races) by... 2ND - Hugh & Anna TAIT sailing 'Serendipity' #2925 (also from NSC) 3RD - Neil & Wendy LONG on 'The Weekend' #2956 ( Speers Point Amatuer Sailing Club) 4TH - Pete & Pia LEHTONEN-DAVIES racing 'Another Roady' #2911 (Balmoral Sailing Club) 5TH - sharing Races 1 & 2 respectively were local GRSC boats 'Ratz3' #2964 sailed by Gary & Robyn RATCLIFFE, and 'Indefensible' #2965 Bern STREATER & Jen SORENSEN Amidst current COVID restrictions & Club Policies, the Event saw Tasars from 4 visiting Clubs. In addition to the above was Woollahra Sailing Club which was represented by Mike OBRIEN & Kerry FYFE (7th & 6th overall). Visitors joined local boats to make up a modest COVID safe fleet of 12 Tasars. Racing & Conditions After the brief & sign on check by Club Class Capt, Mark HOOPER, all boats headed out to the race course set 'centre of the river mouth'. The conditions? ..well the winds were a tad lighter than forecast, with earlier E's gusting to moderate strength softening & shifting more N'ly by final Race 2. The tide was on a slow move in & the occasional motorcraft chopped up a few waves ~ it was nothing too stressing, but it made crews work diligently on finding the pressures & working the shifts whilst balancing & fine tuning their boats for ultimate speed. THUS it's congratulations to our Podium winners who succeeded in achieving just that!! Post-race drinks & presentation were held upstairs on the sailors' verandah by the Event's RO & GRSC Commodore, Andrew McLaughlin. Many thanks to Andrew & his team at GRSC for hosting a successful afternoon of sailing for members of the Tasar Association of NSW! COMING UP - keep abreast of further TANSW posts regarding our Event Program & Training updates which are planned early in the New Year. Info & registrations will also soon be going out for our NSW STATE'S Regatta at Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club over Easter 2021. Nb. Unfortunately there'll be 'no Sail Sydney - Save the Date event for our Class this December due to NSW COVID policies. In the meantime, stay safe & safe sailing! :)

13.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION to all COMPETITORS!

02.01.2022 WHATS HAPPENING AT YOUR CLUB #9 Welcome back everyone as we continue to catch up with what's happening at our 'Tasar Clubs' around the STATE & the ACT. Next on our list is .. Kogarah Bay Sailing Club... Est in 1949, the Club operates at the southern end of Dover Park, Blakehurst in SYDNEY's south, with sailing on Kogarah Bay at the mouth of the mighty Georges River. It was one of 'the places to race' for VS's & VJ's in the 50's. Nowadays it's a hive of activity for Open & Class DIVS of Sabres, Tasars, Lasers, RS Aero's, RL24's, Hartleys & Corsairs. In addition, KBSC continues to organise & run the KURNELL CUP ~ an open Invitation 'passage race' annually held in March. It begins at the Clubhouse, proceeds under the Capt Cook Bridge into Botany Bay to 'passage' around the Bay before returning to the finish line outside the Clubhouse. Next year (NSW Health guidelines permitting) will mark this race's 71st ANNIVERSARY! Note ~ if you get the chance, this Event is a fun one for Tasars with plenty of DIV wine trophy incentives! Being also on a quiet & protected waterway, the Club is perfect for family & kids, with both Tackers & Sailability sailing schools, the latter for which KBSC previously won 'Sydney South Volunteer Team of the Year'. Current Happenings at the Club? KBSC's once a month Winter Racing has been replaced by a new 'Summer Program', conducted every Sunday with briefing at 1pm & race start at 2pm. Presently there are a couple of regular Tasars racing plus a Club Tasar 'available'. Feel free to send any enquiries on Club racing to the KBSC's Class Capt, Cliff Lewis [email protected] ~~~ Well that's another wrap on our 'Club Tasar' scene!! If you're hitting thewind, waves & water this w'end, enjoy& catch you again for more #whatshappeningatyourclub soon! :) --- Pic Collage - courtesy of the 'website gallery' at https://www.kogarahbaysailingclub.com.au/home/
