Reality: The building for bushfire Australian Standard (AS 3959:2018) only stipulates construction requirements for dwellings within 100m of a 'bushfire prone area'. Quite conservative when you consider how far embers travel!

Reality: "Spot fires are ignited by burning embers carried many kilometres ahead of the front of the fire. In major fires, houses caught fire from embers well ahead of the fire front or caught fire from burning embers well after the fire front had passed.
