25.01.2022 Sabine has been involved in volleyball mainly as a player for a very long time. She can look back on experience she gained in Germany, where she originally started not only playing but loving volleyball. She brought this passion of hers over to Tassie, where she got involved in the community as a player. Sabine is TEVCs Director of Communications. Her responsibilities lie in maintaining our digital media strategy, including social media and traditional media. Beyond this she... aids with communication within the club. "When the first discussions about founding the Echidnas came up in 2018, I was straight away keen to not only wanting to be a part of the womens team but also take on duties behind the scenes to help grow the club. The reason why I am so enthusiastic about the club is because I want to help provide a great pathway for our junior players, so they get the opportunity to play on the highest level possible Australia has to offer. I was lucky enough to grow up in a place where we had all of those prospects. I want our Tassie Puggles to have the same opportunities."

25.01.2022 Less than 2 weeks! Our final Volleybash is fast approaching, get in quick before it fills up!

25.01.2022 After a cracker weekend of games, clinics, and training sessions in Devonport, the Echidnas have another event on the horizon! In December we are putting on a full weekend camp for up and coming junior players! This is a great opportunity for any junior players within the community who are really keen about their volleyball and want a chance to work closely with some of the best players and coaches the state has to offer! Details on the flyer below, get in touch to the listed email and sign up before it's too late!

23.01.2022 Gemma is our newest helper of the club. She has been part of the Tasmanian volleyball community for a very long time and thus brings a lot of experience along with her. She is as enthusiastic as we are about our great sport. Gemma joined the club as Coach Cadet for the mens team. Welcome to the team Gemma!! "Having been a part of the volleyball community in Tasmania for 15 years as a player I am excited to widen my knowledge of the game with joining the coaching team this year. The opportunities that arise from being a part of the Echidnas, as a player or a coach, are amazing and the club as a whole are the most supporting group of people. Im excited to see what we can achieve in 2020!"

23.01.2022 A week ago the Club ran our first Volleybash, a small Bjerring tournament as we deepen our community relations. Taking in a variety of skill levels, from social players to our squad members, the day proved to be thoroughly enjoyable for all involved. The Club wishes to thank our sponsors for the day in Vermeys Quality Meats and Claudia Jewellers. Thanks to their generosity the community was fed for free. ... We look forward to our next event and to continue to make ourselves a club for the whole state.

23.01.2022 Now for our third Mochidna - Bailey! While he might have left earlier this year to ply his trade in a more tropical climate, he is still an Echidna at heart and has stepped up to rep a Mo for our Movember team. Bailey is raising money for all the dads, brothers, sons, and mates in our lives that need that little bit of extra help.... You can show your support for Bailey by heading to his personal Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/mospace/14475871 or the Echidna's Team Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/team/2394204

22.01.2022 Since last year the Echidnas squads have been lucky enough to have the assistance of Lindsay at MOVE Massage Fitness Lifestyle as both a personal trainer and, when needed, a massage therapist. The group PT sessions she has put on for us (and even kept doing via video conferencing while COVID had us locked way at home) have been an incredible asset to the development of our players focusing on the players fitness while also minimizing risk of injuries. Several players also utilized her massage services to help work out the remaining aches and pains many athletes experience. If you are looking to improve your overall health the right way, the Echidnas Volleyball Club cannot recommend Lindsay highly enough. head over to their page and get in touch to start your health journey today!

22.01.2022 Next up on our volleyball skill challenge list is Thorpey!

22.01.2022 Tasmanian Echidnas Volleyball Club Covid-19 Update: With much regret the decision to postpone the upcoming Northern Training Camp has been made by the club. The decision is taken in consideration of the position of various stakeholders and national health authorities. Notably, a large component of the weekend was catering to NW Coast schools unfortunately the decision has been taken to end excursions by schools which will severely limit attendance. Many of our volunteers ar...e self-employed or small business owners they also cannot afford to take health risks which may impact their livelihood. As we are volunteer based, it is simply not a reasonable thing to ask of those people who already commit so much to our sport. This is however a postponement and not a cancellation. The TEVC is committed to assisting communities grow the game and our presence on the Coast will continue to be developed. We will be communicating further information as health authorities provide recommendations. Thank you to all those who have assisted in the planning of this event; despite the necessity of postponement, thanks to your efforts we are strongly placed to cater for future events.

21.01.2022 Thankyou very much to the Van Diemens Volleyball Club players who accepted to play a friendly game yesterday against our Echidnas Women's team. A closely fought game, and the girls will definitely take away a lot from that. One more training session Friday, a Volleyfest camp on the week end and this is it for the year!

20.01.2022 Hello and a great start to the week! :-) Starting from tomorrow you will see people pop up on our page. These people are our people behind the scenes who constantly work hard to ensure our Echidnas dont have to worry about anything but playing the sport they love. So get to know our club and people and maybe leave them a Hello

20.01.2022 Our final Mochidna - Aaron! Aaron is one of the newest editions to the echidnas training squad (so new he hasn't had the mug shot done yet!) but that did not stop him from jumping on board the Movember train with us. You can help Aaron raise awareness for and support men's health by jumping over to his mospace here: https://au.movember.com/mospace/14499903... Or alternatively using the Echidna's team mospace here: https://au.movember.com/team/2394204 It's the final day - but it's not too late to show your support!

19.01.2022 It's nearly time! Quiz Night is fast approaching, we still have a couple of tables available! We have finalised the drinks for the event, there will be beer, cider, red wine, white wine, and champagne available for $5 each, and soft drink available for $3 each! Also worthwhile mentioning food is BYO (and highly encouraged!!) So don't come empty handed else you suffer food envy!

19.01.2022 Jake has been a part of the Tasmanian Volleyball community for a long time. As a player, he naturally has a great passion for the sport we all love and was more than keen and happy to take the duty as Secretary for The Tasmanian Echidnas Volleyball Club. As secretary he has been given responsibility for a wide range of areas, mostly concerning administration. This includes more mundane work, such as ensuring minutes and agendas are distributed, as well as work more concerned ...with the development of relationships across the state. He has been a passionate supporter of the vision of the club as a truly Tasmanian entity. "I wanted to be a part of providing the opportunity to play senior volleyball at the highest level possible. Ive always felt enormous gratitude to people like Stephen Ibbott and Tim Medwin (amongst many, many others) who have performed massive quantities of work to provide junior opportunities to myself, as well as the chance to participate in competitions like State League. Its my admiration for the work of these people and the benefits that they have brought to my life which goes beyond just volleyball, which makes me want to be a part of this club. I also believe that given the reticence of other larger sports in Tasmania to provide national competitive teams based in the state, volleyball is placed to grow and grow quickly." Thanks for the insight Jake :-)

19.01.2022 On Saturday night the Echidnas hosted another quiz night. It was a huge success! We had an excellent turn out with all tables selling out, everyone had a lot of fun. Quiz nights like this would not be possible without the very generous input of local individuals and businesses, so we would like to extend a big thank you to the following: Scott Donovan Photography RBK Garden & Property Maintenance Lindsay Foley-Donoghue and MOVE Massage Fitness Lifestyle... Kylee's Tupperware Group The lab_ beauty method L'OCCITANE en Provence Hobart Michael O'Keefe Photography Bulk Nutrients Corra Linn Distillery Terry White Pharmacy Barber King Les Lees Chandlers Nursery Top Drawer Sandy Bay T-Bone Brewing Co. Flippers Cooked Seafood Liv-eat fresh eating Also a big thank you to all the Echidnas who gave up their evening to help with the running of events (like these two dapper barmen pictured) and those who made the effort to get the tables filled!

18.01.2022 Good morning and happy Sunday! To all current members and aspiring Echidnas - Lindsay is running her second session this morning. What better way is there than to kick start your morning with a great workout Be there 9AM sharp ;-)

16.01.2022 Anyone feel a little left out of all the State League fun on the weekend? Weve got you covered!

16.01.2022 Sam has been a Volleyball player since his early teenage years with a great passion for the sport. Combined with his knowledge in IT he was happy to take on the role of Information Technology Officer for the Tasmanian Echidnas Volleyball Club. As Information Technology Officer, he takes care of some of the more technical things like website creation and general IT support when called upon by the committee. "Having been part of Volleyball Tasmania for most of my life I was thrilled when the Echidnas came about, offering players a pathway to play at a high level without having to move interstate. Wanting to help anyway I could I was more than happy to assist when approached by the committee. I am hoping the club thrives for years to come so our younger players have a clear goal to aim for."

16.01.2022 Club bonding brunch!

15.01.2022 On Saturday Night we held our clubs award nights via zoom! It was an excellent turn out with many players, coaches, and committee members dialing in to congratulate the recipients. We were lucky enough to be graced by the presence of Jane Howlett - Liberal Member for Prosser to present these awards and help make it a fantastic evening for everyone involved.

15.01.2022 Meet our Mochidnas! Mochidna #1 is Josh Evans. Josh is doing Movember to help support and raise awareness around men's health, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. On top of growing the mo, Josh has decided to do 20 days of ab workouts in November to show his commitment to the cause!... You can show your support for Josh by heading to his personal Mospace here: https://movember.com/m/14459927?mc=1 or the Echidna's Team Mospace here: https://movember.com/t/tasmanian-echidnas-volleyball-club Keep up the top work Josh!

15.01.2022 LETS PLAY SPOT THE ECHIDNA! Our Tas Echidnas have no interstate competitions scheduled this year due to Covid-19. We are keen to support our Local Championship instead! Tas State League begins this weekend! ... Our Echidnas players will return to their local clubs and battle it out, playing 8 games over two weekends to get to finals and claim best in the state! Round 1: Sept 5th and 6th at Moonah Sports Centre Round 2: Oct 3rd & 4th at East Devonport Recreation Centre Finals: Oct 31st at Elizabeth College We feel incredibly grateful to be able to play when our fellow players across the country do not have the same opportunities.

14.01.2022 At the Echidnas Volleyball Club we take both our mental and physical health pretty seriously! A few of the players from our men's team have decided to step up and show their commitment by participating in Movember this year. Follow and support them on their month long journey of growing ridiculous facial hair as a bid to raise money for men's health. See you there!!

13.01.2022 Yesterday a few of our mens team along with their strength and conditioning coach, Lindsay, were lucky enough to get up close and personal with our namesake, an Echidna! While Echidnas normally like to sleep through the colder winter months, Luigi was up and about (as much as you can be when youre missing a back leg!) and was more than happy for us to give him a good feed - unfortunately Randall was not so keen and was hiding! It was a great learning experience and thoroughly enjoyable for everyone who was able to get involved! If anyone ever wants to have a similar experience Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is the place to go (just make sure you book first)!

12.01.2022 While you might think this might look like a group of Echidnas going down for their daily winter torpor - youd be mistaken! This is actually what happens when Echidnas have just knocked out a set of "Turkish get-ups" . All part of the strength and conditioning program the squad members are undertaking!

11.01.2022 Adrien has been involved in volleyball for many years. Player, coach, Club president, data analyst, he has been involved in the many facets of the game. He came on board the Echidnas as a player initially, now having taken the role of the womens head coach. "While there is a long way to go yet, I believe that the club is a great opportunity to join forces across Tassie and make Volleyball a sport that people would love to be involved with."

11.01.2022 Happy New Year! After season is before the season :-) After a great and deserved break, we are back! Our board and support staff met up for a workshop yesterday night and it was great. We all wish you a great start to the weekend

11.01.2022 Mochidna #4 is Lewi! Lewi is arguably one of the most playful and positive Echidnas in the squad - doesn't stop him from supporting a serious cause! Another veteran of Movember Lewi is keen to do all he can to support men's health - always looking out for those closest to him both on and off the court.... You can show your support for Lewiby heading to his personal Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/mospace/13647553 or the Echidna's Team Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/team/2394204

08.01.2022 Friendly: TEVCW vs VDVC TEVCW VS VDVC Live powered by Swish Live app https://swishlive.onelink.me/JFHA/app ... Watch all hightlights on our website: bit.ly/2WAki60

07.01.2022 While COVID-19 is keep us all away from the volleyball court, a few of our keen players have been trying out a variety of challenges that you can do at home during isolation! All you need is yourself and a volleyball (or 2). Rolling up first is Jan!

06.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions our mens team wasted no time getting back onto the court! Everyone adapted well to a socially distant training session and the coaches worked wonders modifying various drills to be suitable. No amount of hand sanitizer could keep us safe from Lindsay Foley-Donoghue making body parts we didnt know existed hurt in ways we didnt know was possible however!... Lindsay can also be seen here looking ecstatic about her new Echidnas hoody! We all had a great time on the court in the past couple of weeks and look forward to the womens team joining us in the near future!

05.01.2022 Echidnas Men Vs. North Tas

05.01.2022 Mark has been around sports all his life. From Footy, to Golf and Tennis to Volleyball, you can say he is a real sportsman :-). He is especially passionate about volleyball and thus decided to join the adventure project Tasmanian Echidnas Volleyball Club in 2018 as a founding member and President. After 43 years in the finance industry Mark is now retired and is fully committed to help the club further develop.... "I am passionate about seeing The Echidnas become a force in the Australian Volleyball Legue so that our up and coming volleyball stars have a pathway to participate at the highest level without having to leave the state."

04.01.2022 Mens team Head Coach changes: Since the inception of the Echidnas Volleyball Club, Josh Thorpe has been an integral part of the mens team both on the court as a player and off the court as a head coach. over this period the mens coaching team has been bolstered with the additions of John Young, Scott Donovan, and Gemma Wilkinson, as well as Lindsay Foley-Donoghue as our strength and conditioning coach. After some consideration Josh has decided it is time to step back from ...his responsibilities as the head coach so he can focus his attention to his responsibilities as a player for the club, as well as a player representative working with the coaching group where required. Effective immediately, Josh Thorpe will no longer be the head coach for the mens team, with this role being filled by Scott Donovan who will head up the existing group of very talented coaching staff. We are extremely lucky to have such a capable replacement available to fill this role and are incredibly grateful at the club for Scott and the coaching group being willing to do this. The club thanks Josh for his service as the mens team head coach, and look forward to him being able to focus all his efforts on his responsibilities as a player going forward.

04.01.2022 Our first Echidnas Movember was a great success! The 5 participants managed to raise $810 as a team! Big thankyou to everyone who was able to donate to the cause - things like this wouldn't be possible without you. Always remember, it is OK to not be OK!

04.01.2022 Introducing our second Mochidna - Brad! Brad is a veteran mo-grower having participated in Movember previously - we have high hopes for his top lip. His primary focus for this fundraiser is centered around men's mental health and suicide prevention. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicides by 25% by 2030 and Brad is hoping to help them get there. You can show your support for Brad by heading to his personal Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/mospace/14123461... or the Echidna's Team Mospace here: https://au.movember.com/team/2394204 See more

02.01.2022 Echidnas Women vs North Tas Women

02.01.2022 Josh is one of Tassies volleyball talents. As a true born Tassie boy, Josh started his professional volleyball journey in 2006 when he was given a AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) Scholarship. Since then, his sport took him to places where he not only gained valuable volleyball skills but also great life experience. Josh is the head coach of the mens team, a player and committee member within the club. "Im passionate about the club because it gives Tasmanians a pathway to the highest level of the sport within Australia. I want to grow the sport in my home town and give others who love the sport the same opportunities Ive been lucky enough to have been given during my career."

01.01.2022 Bill has recently retired after 50 years working in accounting/finance in the banking, healthcare, agrifood, media, manufacturing and local government sectors. He loves touring interstate with a motorbike, Tassies twisty backroads, fixing things, reducing his golf handicap and finding out which is his preferred whisky :-). Safe to say, he enjoys his new retired life. On top of this busy leisure schedule, Bill decided to come on board and support our Tassie Echidnas by tak...ing on the office as Treasurer of the club. Welcome to the team Bill and all the best! "I am very interested to see how the organization can achieve its goals and I am willing to assist in any way I can." "Volleyball has a lot going for it it provides for participation from social to elite level, regardless of age, race or gender and, as such, ought to be better resourced and encouraged."

01.01.2022 Lindsay is TEVCs Sports Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach for both men and women. Her role includes player care, health and fitness. "I am providing Strength and Conditioning Training and Sports Massage to players, helping them perform and recover optimally. I will also be helping out on the board with planning and fund raising! Yay! I am excited about getting more people involved in Volleyball in Tasmania and help creating pathways and opportunities available for future young players to represent the State at a high level."

01.01.2022 Jan is one of the most experienced volleyball players in Tasmania and has always been passionate about training and competing with the best Tasmanian volleyball players. He is a proud founding member of the Echidnas and has been passionate about the club since the plan of competing at AVL was first discussed. Jan is responsible for the Echidnas logo, the clubs colours, outfit design and promotional merchandise. He was also until recently the Treasurer of the Echidnas, a role that has since passed on to Bill Harris. I was always keen to see the best Tasmanian players come together to train and compete. The Echidnas are one key element that was missing for Tasmanias volleyball community and Im stoked I could play a part in creating the club.
