22.01.2022 If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how passionate I am about the 90 days prior to conceiving, when you have this precious window of opportunity to improve your egg quality and improve your chances of creating a healthy pregnancy and a happy healthy baby! The reality is that what you have (or don’t have) in your pantry right now is directly impacting your fertility. Without certain key nutrients you can’t create quality eggs or can’t sustain a pregnancy, ye...t your body must get them from your diet. Some ‘healthy’ foods may be harming your fertility without you realising. There are also other important nutrients in our foods that even supplements don't provide. Grab your FREE Your Fertile Pantry Checklist (direct link in my Bio) where I provide some simple swaps you can make today to boost your intake of these vital nutrients and boost your chances of conceiving and carrying your healthy baby Direct link in my Bio

13.01.2022 This stemmed from a recent question from our discussion last Sunday with @fertility_queen_dr_burmeister, and I promised I’d follow up with a post. I get asked about probiotics a lot and I’ve been hesitant to post this before, because I don’t believe there’s a one size fits all approach when it come to probiotics. I like to prescribe specific strains depending on your specific circumstances and I’m not a fan of the broad brush multi strain formulas that do a bit of everythin...g and really nothing. In saying that, there are some strains I do commonly use with my patients to support fertility, that may be beneficial for you. L-plantarum This strain is known for it’s anti-inflammatory activity. I find this beneficial for those with bloating or IBS type symptoms as well as helping reduce general inflammation L-reuteri Supports healthy immune balance and integrity of the gut lining as well as having antipathogenic action. I find this beneficial for candida as well as generalise gut and immune balance. Lactobacillus rhamnosus and paracasei I use this combination to help reduce inflammation and over activity of the immune system. Good for those with elevated natural killer cells as well as other allergic conditions such as hay fever and eczema. I hope that helps. Any questions, feel free to DM or post below. 03.01.2022 A healthy, receptive uterus, relies on a healthy, balanced immune system. In this informative discussion I speak with Professor Sarah Robertson, Director of the University of Adelaide’s Robinson Research Institute and Head of the Reproductive Immunology research group, about her fascinating research into the role of the immune system in fertility and pregnancy. We discuss the role of the immune system in successful reproductive outcomes as well as the contentious issue of nat...ural killer cells and immune suppressive treatment. You will also learn way’s you can support healthy immune function to improve your chances of achieving a healthy pregnancy . Professor Robertson is known internationally for innovative research into reproductive immunology, that has formed the basis for a new understanding of the origins of health at conception. She has identified specific cytokines and immune cells that regulate embryo implantation and fetal development, and has demonstrated that male seminal fluid acts to induce adaptations in the female immune response that promote receptivity to pregnancy. Her work shows that the immune system channels environmental signals from both female and male parents to contribute to reproductive success and shape offspring phenotype through non-genomic pathways. These discoveries are improving practise in reproductive medicine and providing insight into early life origins of child health. Her work is funded by the NHMRC, the Australian Research Council, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Global Alliance for Prevention of Prematurity and Stillbirth / Gates Foundation. I recorded this discussion a while back, but it remains one of my most popular, so though I would share it here for you. So interesting!
