21.01.2022 As the temperature rises in Tasmania, snake sightings are becoming more frequent and it is important to keep your pets safe from snake bites by following these easy steps: - keep your dog on a leash while walking - keep your lawn short ... - keep your dogs water bowl inside your home not outside because water can attract snakes - if your dog was in contact with a snake, dont wait for symptoms to appear, take it to the vet immediately for professional assessment. Compression bandage techniques can also be used on your beloved pet

17.01.2022 Dogs and snakes Its warming up so heres what to look out for if you think your pet has been bitten by a snake: Dilated pupils Weakness in limbs... Collapse Trembling Drooling Pale gums Pacing anxiously Vomiting Panting Paralysis OK, so dont try to catch or kill the snake, Snakes can be very dangerous after an interaction with a dog, they will be stressed and probably injured. It is important to keep your pet as calm as possible, but not to offer them food or water. Carry the dog to the car Do not allow your dog to walk if you can help it. Transport to your vet immediately, after hours, to an emergency vet hospital. If you have any other pets who may have come in contact with the snake, bring them in for checking, even if they appear normal.
