25.01.2022 Hi guys^_^ Due to at UTas there is still a restriction to only people with an access card, which will make it hard for non-student to attend. Do you know another place we could keep the boards, we would be fine to move there^_^

25.01.2022 Hey Everyone We're back! The Go club is plan to open in April. Please contact us if you are interested Please come and enjoy some Go!

25.01.2022 Dont feel very well after white play at red dot.

24.01.2022 Thanks Ethan Jiang for being cameraman! :)

23.01.2022 Announcing two (online) tournaments in the next few weeks! The Corona Cup - Second Wave! Basically a sequel to the tournament in April. The winner of each divis...ion will win a Covid Survival Kit - a roll of toilet paper, a face mask, and a bottle of hand sanitiser! Free entry, registration closes 9:30am on the 3rd of October, first round drawn at 10am. Register your interest by e-mailing [email protected], messaging me or Elizabeth Patrick directly either here or on the QGS server on Discord. The Australian Digital Tournament! One game a week, against an opponent who lives in Australia or New Zealand. Details at the link.

21.01.2022 Some good news for Go in Tasmania: Mr Hateak Choi, who began the Sydney Go Club in 1990, has moved down and is in the process of setting up here. Hateak is a ~6dan amateur player and teacher and an all-round lovely chap. We Go players who meet at Chado on Saturdays are in the process of talking with him about whats going to happen in the coming months (amalgamation? Some other arrangement?) so watch this space. Mr Eunkuk Kim - a near-professional level teacher - is also in the state and taking students. We encourage anyone interested in lifting their game to seek him out! Anyway, watch this space regrading the future of the Tas Go Club. Youll know more when we do.

17.01.2022 A big thank you to all new and returning players who came along tonight! See you next week ;)

17.01.2022 Eunkuk (Robin) Kim is a strong amateur player in Hobart who is offering go lessons to players at all levels. Robin charges the very reasonable price of $150 for a total of eight 1.5hr lessons, spread over a month. Once youve played a few games an mastered the basics, theres not better way to improve than to have one-on-one time with a strong player (except perhaps playing many more games!) Robin earned second place in the A division of the recent Korean Ambassaors Cup in... Sydney. Well done Robin! Contact us if you are interested in Robins services :)

16.01.2022 Thank you all for a wonderfully active year in the Tasmanian Go Club!

15.01.2022 Hi all Since the University has reopened, and the Maths & Physics building seems to have relatively little flood damage, we will be on tonight in Room 333 as usual. See you all soon!

14.01.2022 Game with Robert, battle of Verdun.

13.01.2022 Hi All, Since the closure of Chado last year we have lost our regular meeting spot and we are now meeting only semi-regularly at members houses. This is fine for playing go, but not great for finding new people to play with! Does anybody know of a nice (peaceful?) cafe in the city that would be willing to accommodate a Go Club meeting every now and then? It would be good to be able to have a bit of a public profile again.

12.01.2022 Next Tuesday (the 19th of December) will be our last meeting before Christmas. We will reconvene two weeks later on Tuesday the 9th of January, 2018 at our usual time of 5pm. Come along and get a few more live games in for 2017!

11.01.2022 We are considering running a weekly after-school lesson at our Sandy Bay studio, aimed at high school, college, and university students. Go is widely recognized in its native East Asia as an excellent tool for teaching and improving intelligence, focus, mental discipline, analytic skills, and more. Though Go is not as popular here, it is steadily growing in Western culture. We hope that by running this class we can bring the benefits of Go into the lives of many students!

10.01.2022 Another wild Tuesday evening!

08.01.2022 Don't feel very well after white play at red dot.

07.01.2022 Hey Everyone Were back! The Go club is plan to open in April. Please contact us if you are interested Please come and enjoy some Go!

06.01.2022 Hey guys ^_^ For obviously reasons, the Tasmania Go Club is going to be closed until further notice.

06.01.2022 This series is about opening, suitible for player from novice to amateur 2 dan. https://www.youtube.com/playlist

05.01.2022 Here is the Learn Go Afternoon event that we were gauging interest for a week or so back. Its a bit late notice but as Im ("I" being Michael, who is organizing the event) leaving for Canberra this Sunday, we dont have a heap of time to fit it in. This will be happening all afternoon tomorrow, from lunchtime onwards. Come and go as you please (ha). Hateak Choi is an excellent teacher, and Go is a brilliant game - we encourage you to come along and play at least one game a...t some point in the afternoon. Of course, Hateaks club is open every day from 10:00am to 6:00pm, so if you get hooked then you have somewhere to feed your addiction. Dont forget that there is also our weekly club session at Chado in Elizabeth Street, every Saturday from 1:00pm onwards, if you like the cafe atmosphere. The cost tomorrow will be ~$2 per game per person. Tea and coffee is available there, but you will need to sort out your own snacks. Hope to see you there!

04.01.2022 Thanks Ethan for finding the game! It takes a lot of confidence to play such a stylish move as 162!

03.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/playlist This series is the best Jseki video I ever watched, talked about a lot unorthodox responses from amateur player, the disadvantage is this series is Chinese only, it may take longer time for you to understand.

01.01.2022 We are back and ready to start the new year! We are really seeking new members to keep our little club vibrant and fun! If you know anybody who might be interested, we really encourage you to come along with them and help spread the word around. We still run the usual weekly games at Chado on Saturdays, but now we also have a full time dedicated playing space in Sandy Bay. Mr Haetaek Choi 6dan has kindly offered his studio space and we can now accommodate many games. We are i...nterested in running a friendly competition soon, so we need to boost our numbers a little. If youre interested in trying a game or two, contact me (Michael Cromer) and we can organize a time! Anybody can play go! Yes, I mean you too!
