25.01.2022 Back to school - supporting your anxious child https://www.beyondblue.org.au//how-to-support-your-anxious

25.01.2022 Professional Learning Opportunity 23rd June, 2.00 4.00pm Re-engaging disengaged students Dr Jeff Thomas is a lecturer in Behaviour Management at Utas Faculty of Education.... Jeff has a driving enthusiasm for understanding how to improve student engagement, especially for those students for whom school is not a friendly or accepting place. Jeff has won numerous teaching awards, and, as an early career researcher, is developing a strong research record with many ongoing projects with researchers at UTAS, nationally and internationally. As students are now returning to school, this topic is highly relevant, as we support teachers to help students re-engage in learning at school. Jeff plans to first introduce the idea of engagement (definition, how it manifests in students, the continuum / process of disengagement) and then ask the participants to apply this to students they know. Participants will be encouraged to consider how engagement might apply to students including those with autism, intellectual disability, trauma backgrounds and from poverty. Participants will gain skills which they can begin to use immediately, to prevent disengagement at school. Cost: TSPA Members: Free Others: $20 per person Or if people wish to view the PD as a group, the following applies: $50 for 3 people. Add an extra $20 per person for more than 3 people in a group. $100 for 6 people Venue: Zoom link will be provided once registration has been completed. Registration: Please message for details
