17.01.2022 Here's one for the kids these school holidays! Hadley’s Orient Hotel have organised school holiday workshops on the theme ‘Mad Hatter’s Bush Party’. Children (aged 6 12) will be able to make clay treats for a bush party in a ball room and will also be able to view the Sweet Water exhibition currently on show at Hadley's Orient Hotel... Sweet Water features deliciously beautiful work from Tasmanian multidisciplinary installation artist Caitlin Fargher. Her work explores sustainability using materials such as toffee, meringue, clay and ice to create sculptural art installations. Hadley's Art Prize curator Dr Amy Jackett has created an art education resource for Kinder Year 6 students titled ‘Sweet Sustainable Sculpture’. Looky Looky reimagines Captain James Cook's landing through contemporary, original music performed by a ...range of First Nations artists. This resource is a springboard into classroom study of January 26 / Australia Day, reconciliation, Terra Nullius, sovereignty, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, cultures and histories. It aims to encourage, recognise and celebrate the visual arts practice of primary and secondary school educators. This marks the first art prize for teachers. The National Teacher-Artist Prize was established to reward teachers by celebrating the value and quality of their individual art prac...tice, supporting both their professional teaching practice and personal growth needs. The prize is a recognition of those who foster rich learning environments within school communities and promote the fundamental importance of the arts in children’s education. The prize aspires to be one of the most valuable events on the art and education calendar, being the only dedicated art prize for educators in the world.
