23.01.2022 For all Victorian Businesses this is a worrying time, rest assured that your Bookkeeper and Accountant will continue to work during these stage 4 lockdowns. We will continue to support all our clients during this time, please feel free to reach out and contact us. Below is a snapshot of the closures announced by the Premier Dan Andrews with more information available on the DHHS Website and by clicking on the link below.... https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus We are thinking of you !!

22.01.2022 JobKeeper Audits! As part of the JobKeeper management process, the ATO will be conducting compliance audits and reviews to find any discrepancies due to the rush for eligibility. It seems some businesses have taken it upon themselves to make "adjustments" to their circumstances to become eligible for "JK" payments.... Some example included below: Reported and increase in staff Deferring supplies resulting in a decline of GST turnover Bringing forward supplies to meet a decline in turnover for the following month or quarter. Restructuring of assets to a new company, just one example Monthly declarations of your current and projected GST turnover are due within fourteen days of the end of each relevant month!! Have all paperwork ready and within reach if the ATO come a knockin, so you can prove your position on how you calculated a decline in turnover test and how you came to your assessment of an expected future decline in turnover also. I cannot stress enough how important it is that JobKeeper compliance eligibility is calculated and reported correctly. Check with your trusted BookKeeper or Accountant to ensure compliance and eligibility for Jobkkeeper is calculated and reported correctly within Treasury guidelines

19.01.2022 #Cash Flow I just wanted to share this little thing about cash flow and what it means to all businesses: It is the lifeblood of every business and every business owners life. The abundance of it allows freedom of choice.... The flow of it creates security. The stewardship of it develops certainty. The sharing of it creates goodwill. But the mismanagement of it can see the devastation. And the lack of it is soul-destroying. The thing is without cash, profits are meaningless.!! The reality is without having up to date accurate financial data and reliable processes in place business owners will not have complete visibility over the financial health of their businesses. In fact as a result they will not be able to make informed decisions to ensure future continuity of their businesses in any kind of times. It really is about having accurate financial information at your fingertips. We can support you and your business by systemising your financial operations with robust and reliable processes so you have real time information about the lifeblood of your business. #CASH FLOW......

02.01.2022 Protection. Transition. Recover. There is a sense of relief and optimism in the air as restrictions start to lift across all states with tourism business accommodation owners and operators having to adapt moving forward. The Australian Tourism Industry is predicting better times ahead with an increase in domestic travel, "a road trip resurgence" and a return of the great Aussie road trip !!... As an accommodation business owner myself I have had to contemplate: What changes will I need to implement post pandemic to my business model moving forward and ensuring guests feel safe to return. How will the new Guest Experience look like? How to introduce a compliant Covid19 cleaning checklist? How to promote and market your business effectively? In times of a crisis a Business Continuity plan ensures protection, function and recovery from any disruptions in a systematic manner, rather than on the fly. A Business Continuity plan prepares for risks that are beyond your control and enables your business to respond immediately and efficiently to reduce risks when an incident occurs. A recovery plan can be actioned after the event of a crisis to get your business up and running in a real time frame to minimise financial losses. I have spoken to many accommodation businesses during this economic crisis that do not have a business continuity plan and wish they had one to implement rather than sitting back seeing how everything will pan out. It has been an anxious and worrying time for all in the Australian Tourism industry. WE can work with you to develop a comprehensive and effective business continuity action plan so you can feel supported when an economic crisis, disaster or pandemic next strikes.
