25.01.2022 Please donate a little something if you can. The cashless welfare card really has made life a nightmare for these people.

22.01.2022 On November 12 1982 the Melbourne Club, a private men’s establishment catering to the city’s elites, was occupied during a march of 3000 unemployed people, unio...nists and others. As protesters forced open doors and climbed in through windows club members retreated to the rear garden. These photos, which originally appeared in Jeff and Jill Sparrow’s Radical Melbourne 2 book, show the crowd gathering prior to the march as well as one person flying the Red Flag during the occupation. A month earlier members of the group Work For Today had held a lunch-in protest, replete with a packed lunch in paper bags, at the club to similarly bring the plight of the unemployed directly to those most responsible. To read the full story of the Melbourne Club occupation, as well as three other chapters from the Radical Melbourne 1 & 2 books about unemployed pickets, protests and activism from the 1900s to 1930s, visit- https://commonslibrary.org/stories-of-unemployed-activism-/ For a story about unemployed organizing in Perth during the Depression era check out this excerpt from Radical Perth, Militant Fremantle- https://commonslibrary.org/the-1931-perth-treasury-buildin/

07.01.2022 An excellent read.

04.01.2022 This week, our members are calling on the Senate crossbench to vote down the expansion of the racist, paternalistic Cashless Welfare Card. Tell Senator Lambie we need income support, not forced income control: [email protected]
