16.01.2022 The winning quiz night team. Enjoy the chocolate.

16.01.2022 A deeply passionate and vibrant group of Tasmanias adult literacy practitioners met yesterday for our annual conference. At the appealing, spacious and well designed Bridgewater Library the conversation, learning, exchanging, meeting new friends was bubbling and full of energy, the perfect counterpoint to the silvery, wet day outside. Here are some images. ... Many thanks to Lucy Whitehead, Julia Goss, and Josie Chapman, our organising group. Thanks also to Bridgewater Library for providing the venue. They also organised Fridays Mini-Quiz at the Hope and Anchor. I heard it was great fun and also perhaps somewhat competitive (read very competitive). We are doing some more posts with details :) 26TEN - Tasmanias campaign for adult literacy Tasmanian Council for Adult Literacy - TCAL

It's about how education can help people navigate tricky times both socially and economically. Help us make a difference... People need access to education, learning and training at every stage of their lives so they can build skills and knowledge, fulfil their own potential and contribute effectively in their communities." 13.01.2022 Deborah Stroh-Reilly, our President, was MC. She first introduced Tyenna Hogan, a young Muwinia woman. She gave a moving welcome to country. Then Deborah shared some recent wins for the sector: TCALs $145,000 grant to develop a workforce development plan for adult literacy practitioners; and @TasTAFE TasTAFEs decision to make their online literacy tutor training (Teaching Adult Literacy Learners - TALL) freely available to all Tasmanians (first intake April next year). When... more details are known well publish them in our monthly e-newsletter. Later Debra Guntrip, a workplace adult literacy specialist based at TasTAFE in Devonport, called in on the way home from the State Training Awards. She is a finalist in the Australian Training Awards (the peak, national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector) in the category Excellence in Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Practice Award. This award recognises innovation and excellence by an individual involved in improving LLN skills in an educational, community or workplace context. She has worked exclusively on 26TEN - Tasmanias campaign for adult literacy workplace literacy grants in recent years. These are signs of some of the impact the 26TEN Strategy and Campaign as it gathers together so many people to work together to improve adult literacy and numeracy levels in Tasmania. @26TEN, Tasmanian Council for Adult Literacy - TCAL
