20.01.2022 Granite behemoths in Sleepy Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania. Check out the multicoloured lichen on and between the boulders. 20.01.2022 And while Im featuring Justin Gilligans underwater photography skills, heres one he took of a net bag of freshly harvested Tasmanian black lip abalone, Haliotus rubra. I was instructed to take an underwater torch and backlight the Abalones for a different lighting effect. I think it worked well - another cracker image from award winning Australian Geographic photographer Justin Gilligan. #justingilligan #southcapebay

19.01.2022 One of Tasmanias finest beaches-quartz white sand and blue skies above make for turquoise water........ Taylors Beach, Bay of Fires, North East Tasmania. 19.01.2022 Havent posted for a while. I cant take any credit for this amazing image of Macrocystis pyrifera - giant kelp near Southport, South East Tasmania taken by Australian Geographic photographer Justin Gilligan. Well maybe I can take a little bit of credit inasmuch as I took him to this location onboard my commercial fishing vessel and threw him over the side after making him promise to do visual justice to these magnificent marine plants. He certainly kept his promise - this is a cracker image! #justingilligan #southporttasmania #macrocystispyrifera

18.01.2022 Hi All. I have had my photography website www.deanlisson.com up and running for a decade now. A big thank you to all of those wonderful people who have supported my business to date. It is very rewarding to know that my seascape panoramas are displayed in homes around the country and also in many corporate foyers and boardrooms. I am increasingly fielding inquiries as to why I dont have a Facebook account focusing on my photography. So here it is........ my new Facebook account will feature my seascape images along with some interesting yarns along the way........more to come soon........

16.01.2022 Shooting vertical panoramas with a heavy camera and tripod on a soft sand hill presents its own set of challenges......not the least of which is keeping destructive sand particles away from the camera and lens! Sometimes its all worth it though...... Wind sculpted perfection. Sandy Cape Beach, Tarkine Coast, North West Tasmania. 15.01.2022 I was fortunate to have lived at the Arthur River for a few years back in the day. This is a fairly remote but spectacularly beautiful part of Tasmanias west coast. Being directly in the path of the roaring forties the wind blew on most days - the only thing that varied from one day to the next was the direction! There was something very special about being holed up when a westerly storm blew in - slate gray skies, buffeting winds and monstrous seas. This photo was tak...en following one such storm - this is a small bay on the southern side of the river full of storm foam and ancient logs from the forests of the Tarkine. The logs were carried downstream from the upper reaches of the Arthur River to the ocean and then washed up on the shore during onshore weather that can persist for weeks on end! Arthur River Heads, Tarkine Coast, North West Tasmania. Fujifilm GSW 690 Mk III, 65mm fixed prime lens. #fujifilm, #tarkine #Tasmanianphotography #Tourismtasmania #Photography #Seascapes #Tasmaniancoastline #Tasmania #Discovertasmania

15.01.2022 You want a big print?? Sure you do ......... well this is where it all happens! Printing using my own wide body Epson printer gives me total control of the workflow from image capture to panoramic print ready for framing. This beast takes up a lot of room and chews through ink and paper but the final result is spectacular! Large format prints suitable for gallery display.... Special pigment inks produce archival grade long life prints with lightfastness ratings to 75 years. Epson Stylus Pro 7800 Wide Body Giclee Printer. #epson #gicleeprint #Tassiestyle #Tasmanianphotography #Eastcoasttasmania #Tourismtasmania #Photography #Seascapes #Tasmaniancoastline #Tasmania #discovertasmania

12.01.2022 Eggs Beach, Pirates Bay, Eaglehawk Neck. An easterly storm gauged hundreds of tonnes of sand from the beach exposing some tabular rock layers not seen for a long time! 10.01.2022 Here is another of my coveted medium format film cameras - the venerable Fujifilm GSW690 MkIII with the fixed 65mm wide angle lens. This beast harks back to the simple days - no built in light meter, no interchangeable lenses, rangefinder focussing. Indeed it doesnt even need a battery - everything is old school manual! Easy to maintain, light in weight ( for a MF film camera!) and with a spectacular pin sharp lens, this has been one of my favourites. Recommended second hand... purchase ( they stopped making them about 30 years ago!) this is a collectors camera for those who do photography in the old fashioned way! #fujifilm #sekoniclightmeter #Tassiestyle #Tasmanianphotography #Eastcoasttasmania #Tourismtasmania #Photography #Seascapes #Tasmaniancoastline #Tasmania #Discovertasmania

10.01.2022 Sticking with the Arthur River theme, here is an image of a bay on the southern side of the river taken in the middle of winter. It had been blowing onshore non stop for several weeks. The bay was full of storm foam and old logs from the upper reaches of the Arthur River. Wildness unlimited in one of the wildest places on earth. Arthur River Heads, Tarkine Coast, North West Tasmania Fujifilm GSW690, 65mm lens, Fujifilm Velvia50 #tarkineinmotion #arthurriver #fujifilm ... www.deanlisson.com #Tassiestyle #Tasmanianphotography #Tourismtasmania #Photography #Seascapes #Tasmaniancoastline #Tasmania #Discovertasmania #tasmaniagram #instatasmania

04.01.2022 Wildness unlimited part two......here is the other half of the image in my previous post. Persistent storm swells pulverise kelp and other seaweed and organic detritus down to its constituent proteins and lipids creating a foam which accumulates onshore. Sometimes the foam in gutters can be overhead in height - spooky! Arthur River Heads, Tarkine Coast, North West Tasmania Fujifilm GSW690 with 65mm lens, Fujifilm Velvia50 #arthurriver #tarkinetasmania ... www.deanlisson.com #Tassiestyle #Tasmanianphotography #Tourismtasmania #Photography #Seascapes #Tasmaniancoastline #Tasmania #Discovertasmania #tasmaniagram #instatasmania
