02.01.2022 After a harrowing few days, 3 spent at the fire evacuation centre in Bega, we are back home in Tathra. A huge thank you to all the firefighters, emergency servi...ces and volunteers who worked tirelessly, both at the fire front and at the evacuation centres. Our home and the oyster shop escaped unscathed, however so many of our friends have lost everything. The fire footprint was thankfully not in the Nelson Lake catchment so our farm and our oysters were also spared. The oyster shop is open again and Tathra is open for business! If you were thinking of cancelling your regular trip to Tathra this year, as a result of the bushfire, please don’t. Ours is a strong and resilient community, but we need your support. You will be welcomed with open arms! The beach is still magnificent, the water is warm, there are plenty of bike trails ( 22 km of freshly cleared tracks on the fire shed side) which were untouched, our cafes, restaurants and coffee shops have delectable delights, our accommodation hubs are ready to welcome you ...... and our oysters are fat!!!
