17.01.2022 It is with sincere regret that we advise the passing of Mario Palusa (trumpeter) after a long illness on 2 January 2020 at a nursing home in Woodcroft. He was 88 years young. In accordance with Mario’s pre-arranged requests, he was privately cremated with no funeral notices. He was a long time member of the Polish Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mr Zygmunt Matusziewicz-Matuszewski (which accompanied the Polish Folklore Ensemble 'Tatry' for many years), a member of the ...Slovenian orchestra, POLMUS, INKA, and several other bands. The band members of POLMUS, and other musicians, have suggested that a fitting celebration of Mario’s life be arranged to send him off with at least a small ‘fanfare’. Andrzej Furman (a long time band member of POLMUS and friend of Mario) has been in touch with the Slovenian Club (Mario was a significant benefactor and member of the club) which is in support of a proposed ‘celebration of Mario’s life’ in conjunction with a brief ‘Akademia’ type concert celebration ‘Preserenov Dan’ (a renown Slovenian poet’s day). Some short Slovenian poems, songs and musical interludes will be performed by Slovenian members/children at this concert. The Slovenian Honorary Consul, Adrian Vatovec, may be in attendance at the concert and will speak for Mario’s life and his music history. Adrian was a member of a Slovenian Band (accordion/key boards) that included Mario. Others who may wish to speak on Mario’s behalf are welcome to do so at the concert. The details of the day are below: Venue: Slovenian Club 11 La Salle Street, Dudley Park Date: Sunday 9 February 2020 Timings: 2:30pm arrival for a 3:00pm concert start for approx. 1 hour duration. Dinner (BBQ and salads) will be available for purchase from 5:00pm. Bar will be open to purchase drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) If anyone is interested in attending the above mentioned event please contact Andrzej Furman direct (asap and before the due date) on 0438 835 750 or [email protected] Please indicate the number people attending and if they will be ordering the BBQ dinner, which will occur after the concert. The club has asked for this information to assist with table seating arrangements and catering purposes.

12.01.2022 Each year on the 24th of April, Anzac Day Eve, Tatry takes part in the Anzac Day Vigil ceremony at the State’s War Memorial on North Terrace. Unfortunately, this year the ceremony cannot take place due to Covid-19 restrictions, still everyone at Tatry would like to remember and honour those who gave up so much to ensure we would all live in freedom. Here are a few photos of past Anzac Day vigils and the Tatry members that represented our community. Lest We Forget.

09.01.2022 On May the 3rd Poland celebrates Constitution day, one of the most important annual celebrations of Polish independence and nationalism. It was on this day that the Polish Sejm (parliament) proudly signed what was to become Europe’s first national constitution in 1791. Over the last 60 years Tatry has taken part in celebrating this significant occasion with South Australia’s Polish community. This year however, we send our thoughts and best wishes to our Polish family and friends around the world from the safety or our homes.

08.01.2022 Today we remember Pawel Zajac. It feels like just yesterday when you suddenly and sadly left us. We miss your booming voice, infectious laugh and even your jokes. Pawel, you have left a void that just can’t be filled, we think of you when we dance and when we sing and will always do so to make you proud. With love from your ‘Tatry’
