22.01.2022 Congratulations Jacqueline Gleeson and Simon Steward on thier appointment to the High Court of Australia. Both are very well respected Federal Court judges in Melbourne and Sydney. 19.01.2022 We've created a checklist for recovering your debts: 1. Immediately follow up all overdue payments with a letter and/or telephone call; 2. Consider negotiating a payment plan with your debtors (if your cash-flow permits); 3. If debts remain unpaid, issue legal proceedings immediately to fast-track prospective payment; 4. Only consider a statutory demand or bankruptcy notice if the debt is $20,000 or more and you can wait 6 months to proceed in Court; and... 6. Seek advice as to whether you can claim interest on overdue payments. You should also read our article (link below) which goes into detail about the changes in light of COVID-19. See more

19.01.2022 Are you working from home during the COVID-19 crisis? Are you wondering how you’ll recover the additional running expenses you’re incurring whilst doing so? The ATO has introduced a temporary simplified shortcut method where you’ll be able to claim $0.80 per work hour for those additional expenses. Our Team has created the below checklist in relation to what you can and can’t claim and for what period:

18.01.2022 The Government has just passed the legislation enacting the JobKeeper payment. Most businesses will need to show a 30% decline in GST turnover, however charities need only show 15% and businesses with likely income of more than $1 billion need to show a reduction of 50%. While the payments are to be passed on to employees, a business can also nominate one eligible business participant who is not an employee but is actively engaged in carrying on the business, such as a director or shareholder. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the JobKeeper payment, or have a a read of the legislation yourself - link below...

11.01.2022 Recent Successful Outcome: Taurus Legal Management was recently engaged by clients who had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in a company a number of years ago. It was believed that their investment secured shares in the company. However, upon further investigation, this was not the case. Our engagement involved issuing proceedings in the Supreme Court and successfully receiving an order from the Court that the company produce their financial records in order to valu...e the shares. We’re pleased to have reached settlement for over one million dollars for the clients. This was a fantastic outcome for the clients and Taurus Legal Management. If you have a particular situation you would like to discuss, do not hesitate to contact our Team at Taurus Legal Management on (03) 9481 2000.

08.01.2022 Taurus Legal Management recently helped a client protect their brand. Our client discovered a competitor was using their brand name online - on their website and in social media posts. Our client was concerned their customers would sign up with their competitor as a result of the posts. Thankfully, our client had protected their brand by registering a trademark. ... We immediately sent a cease and desist letter, demanding that the competitor stop using our client’s brand and immediately remove any posts or website using our client’s brand or any similar brand. Whilst the competitor initially resisted the demand, they soon agreed to change their company name, domain name, social media handles and stop making any reference to a name similar to our client’s brand. This outcome was achieved without the need for issuing legal proceedings and is a reminder of the power of registered trade marks to protect your brand. If you wish to discuss a situation similar to this, or your protecting your brand generally, please contact the team at Taurus Legal Management on (03) 9481 2000 or at [email protected]
