13.01.2022 Weve always said wed help businesses through this pandemic and thats what were doing. Our support package announced this week includes over $530 million t...o help local businesses survive, and see this thing through. More than 80,000 Victorian businesses will receive cash grants of $5,000 to help cover the rent and pay the bills. And $26 million will go towards more mental health support so that business owners can take care of themselves and their employees. No ones ever dealt with this before, and theres no guide on how to get through a global pandemic. Thats why $10 million will be dedicated to mentoring and advising small businesses on how to adapt to the challenges were dealing with. $40 million will go to help regional tourism operators cover the cost of refunds, and accommodation providers will be able to claim up to $225 per night, capped at $1,125 for each and every cancelled booking. Were dedicating $20 million to a CBD Business Support Fund to keep Melbournes famous bars and restaurants going and were extending payroll tax deferral to the end of the year too. For our state to recover on the other side of this, our businesses need to recover. And well do whatever we can to make sure that happens.
