12.01.2022 This is A Day in the Life 2020 Our farmers need workers. They need them in some cases urgently. I work for Growcom Australia, the peak body for horticulture.... We are the voice of this industry. We proudly represent our members, the people who grow your favourite fruit, vegetables and nuts. As a team, we are taking all sorts of action to try and solve this labour problem so you, as the consumer, end up with an adequate supply of fruit and vegetables on your plates at home. Next week I’ll be working as a farm hand on 5 different farms in Stanthorpe to showcase from a grass roots level, what life is like working in horticulture. I’ll be keeping a video diary of my time and posting here. I’m a complete novice at this but I hope this means you get a genuine, warts and all view of what life is like for me over the next week. If you are a young person thinking of a career in agriculture, tune in. If you are a uni student that wants to earn extra money before Xmas, tune in. If you have been displaced through Covid and are maybe seeking a regional tree change, tune in. Thank you in advance to Sweets Strawberry Runners, Ausfarm Fresh, Bratasha Farms, Ashbern Farms and Taylor Produce for having me.
