25.01.2022 Tomorrow is 'free dress day' initiated by Taylor students to raise money for the Kids with Cancer Foundation. It is supposed to be quite cold tomorrow. Rug up and remember to wear closed in shoes and hats.

25.01.2022 How can we use rich literature and cultural experiences to promote cultural awareness of First Nations people? Why is it important to understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders’ connection to country and our own connection to the land? Yesterday Kindergarten to Year 6 classes participated in NAIDOC Week activities. Students read stories, sang songs, did art activities and played games to promote awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and connecti...on to Country. 23.01.2022 Today a group of our year 5/6 students participated in the Schools Obstacle Challenge at B.FIRM The groups came 2nd and 3rd overall. Such an amazing effort and a great show of team work and resilience. Great job Team Taylor!

21.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone. I snapped this yesterday whilst admiring the beautiful gardens off the staff room and into the preschool. I know everyone will join me in saying how grateful we are for Mr Chris. He is one of a kind. Thanks Mr Chris for all that you do for staff, students and the whole community. You are valued and appreciated.

19.01.2022 Today we celebrated last week's PBL award recipients. As last Friday we had several teachers participate in professional learning involving more work around our school strategic priorities of reading and writing connections. We think the learning and focus around our key improvement areas is certainly evident in today's awards. So many safe, respectful, responsible learners. Congratulations everyone.

18.01.2022 Yesterday Year 1 had the opportunity to Zoom with a Giant! The children thoughfully prepared questions for Matt DeBoer from the GWS Giants around their inquiry into 'How can I be healthy and happy?' We certainly had some interesting questions and excited fans.

18.01.2022 How do we write to inform the reader? Year 2 authors shared their published books with me today. The children proudly discussed the writing process they followed, researching, drafting, conferring and publishing. Congratulations year 2.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 3/4 who shared their published books today at an unveiling ceremony in the library. All children have been inquiring into the big idea, 'How does research influence writing?' We are so proud of each of you! Families, children are taking their books home to share with you- enjoy!

16.01.2022 The new relocatable is now safely on site. We think it looks fabulous and are so grateful for the new space. The design flows so nicely with the rest of the school. Thank you to our whole school community for your support and flexibility with the change of arrangements today at drop off time. 15.01.2022 Our annual book awards ceremony was simply stunning this morning. We loved being able to have family of award recipients attend and celebrate with the children under the COLA. Thank you to our wonderful Taylor team who did such a fabulous job organising the morning celebrations. Congratulations to our year 6 leaders of 2020 who hosted the assembly this morning. You have continued to inspire our future leaders and we are so very proud of you. Seeing you hand over the leadership of the school to newly elected Prime Ministers, Nicola and Ezekiel and Speakers, Anthony and Jetson was a wonderful moment. You have set the bar high. Student voice is strong at TPS because of you. Thank you. It was such a joy to see all Taylor children celebrating each other as the awards were presented.

12.01.2022 How can we encourage Taylor kids to be healthy? How does food get from the farm to our plate? Today year 3/4 had an adventure out to Pialligo Estate. We explored the farm and orchards, tasting some delicious cherries straight from the tree. We made pizza with ingredients sourced from the farm. Lots of full bellies and big smiles. ... The second group just made it back inside and managed to stay reasonably dry as the wild weather hit. Thank you to Mrs Kobus, Mr Moore, Ms Wallington and Ms Henry for organising this great excursion.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to all award recipients. What a way to finish the term. Year 1 children have been so motivated by the Muliyan tokens and awards that they have been making their own for their class mates....I even received my very first award today for being responsible. Thank you to Olivia, Lilah and Ahri in year 1 for doing such a fantastic job reading and presenting the awards today. Over $500 was raised today for the Kids with Cancer Foundation. We are so proud of such a ...fabulous student led event. Congratulations Taylor Primary. I wish all families and staff a very safe and relaxing holiday break. 12.01.2022 There are always so many things to celebrate at our fabulous school. Thank you to all the incredible staff who embrace best practice and are always looking for ways to add value to how children learn. Thank you to the children who were so confident and excited to share their learning. We are so proud.

12.01.2022 R U OK? Today teachers and students marked R U OK? Day. By encouraging conversation and asking R U OK? you may help someone who is having a hard time. Children discussed how to be a good listener and who they can reach out to if they need help.

09.01.2022 A big thank you to our wonderful Taylor community for your generous contributions of books and donations for our book swap. We raised $800 which not only exceeds our $500 target but is more than double what we raised last year! Your contributions will go toward supporting indigenous literacy programs through the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. A wonderful way to start NAIDOC week!

08.01.2022 I wonder what we look like from space- can you see our Taylor logo? In August we participated in the Satellite Selfie for Australian Science Week and we now know what we look like from the sky! Thanks to Ms White for organising this for our school.

08.01.2022 Our incredible mural at the front entrance is heading towards the final stages. This week as we acknowledge NAIDOC week, all students will have their hand print painted on the lower border of the mural.

07.01.2022 Today our school leaders led a beautiful Remembrance Day service for the whole school, that they prepared. Thank you, we are so proud of the young leaders that you are becoming and how you model our school values for the whole school. 06.01.2022 Good morning everyone, Our new building had a sleepover on Sulwood last night. Delivery has commenced, but they are going to take a little longer than expected. The front car park will be closed this morning. Please drop off at preschool gates, back gate or at the Kett Street ovals to walk to school with teaching and support staff. 05.01.2022 How can we work together to comprehend texts? Each day Year 5/6 participate in cooperative reading groups. They read chapters of text independently, develop their own fat questions and then engage in discussions about the text to help develop deeper understanding. Students choose their text based on reading interest. It was great to hear the discussions from the students about the authors point of view and students thoughts on characters.

04.01.2022 Today we held our PBL awards assembly outside under the COLA as a whole school. Thank you to Benji who shared in his own language the Welcome to Country. We are so proud of you and thank you for such a beautiful acknowledgement. Congratulations to all award recipients. We were delighted to hear from children in years 3 and 4 who shared their learnings from our NAIDOC week activities. We concluded the assembly with some whole school singing led by year 1 children. 01.01.2022 How are people connected to their place and other places? Today year 2 children have headed off up Mt Taylor guided by Ngunnawal custodian Tyronne Bell. The children are inquiring into the cultural significance of our local area and how indigenous people use the land. I look forward to hearing about all the learning out in the fresh air and sunshine.

01.01.2022 Mini Olympics is tomorrow! All students can wear their house colours, blue for Boddington, yellow for Marconi, green for Summerland and red for Sulwood. Students will take part in a range of activities led by our student leaders. The Taylor Mini Olympics will be held on Tuesday week 7, 24th of November. ... 01.01.2022 Good afternoon families, A few months ago during the remote learning period I received a letter from Ella in Kindergarten. She wrote to me requesting a fundraising day for people who are sick. Student voice is strong at Taylor Primary School and is something we celebrate and encourage across the school. I took Ellas letter to the student parliament. Aiden and Willow in year 6 have consulted with Ella and they made the decision to have a free dress day this Friday 25 Septe...mber (Please remember sun smart clothing, hats and closed in shoes). The students in parliament and Ella decided that gold coin donations will be raised for Kids with Cancer. Thank you to Ella and the student parliament for such a thoughtful idea. We look forward to concluding the last day of term supporting the Kids with Cancer Foundation. Belinda
